Going back up the page, I think Vlad has summed it up.

The penalty wasn't cheating, as it was the referee's decision. Did the player really know whether he was inside or out? And even if he did, he wouldn't own up. I wouldn't expect him too. It's not cheating.

And '66, also not cheating. The players didn't know, the referee and linesmen didn't know. They gave the goal, it happened to be wrong.

All this is just referee's getting it wrong, but it all comes around again. One week a team would get the benefit, the next week their opponents might get the benefit.

And reverting to computer referees would probably ruin the game.

And IIRC it was Arsenal vs Sheff Utd, FA CUP 4th round. Sheff kicked ball out, Arsenal took throw, Kanu scored.

Later Arsenal admitted they were wrong, and the match was replayed. That was fair play from Arsenal I thought.

This is a stupid comment. He wasn't there to be skillfull, or fast. He was there to take the ball off oponents, hurt them, annoy them, get them booked, sent off.

Anything like that. And he did it well. He was a good arial player, good (BAD) tackler (when he got it wrong, he GOT IT WRONG!!)

But he was good in his day, he did his job.

Close. It was Kanu that collected the ball from the throw in and crossed for Overmars (spits) to score. Arsenal won the game. I don't think I've ever seen a crowd of supporters so angry as the Sheffield United fans. I was absolutely disgusted at what we had done.

That evening it was announced that the Arsenal management had offered to replay the game. I have to say that I doubt if any other club in the world would have done that. I was immensly proud of my club. It shows that we stand for sportsmanship in a world where people are proud to cheat. We are Arsenal - we are class!

We won the replay easily. Prompting the Arsenal supporters to chant: 'Do you want to start again?...'

because the game is so big, i can see where they are coming from when they take a dive...the end justifies the means, and all that

but i think its cheating, and youd never catch me taking a dive

Absolutely. And it's okay for me to steal from you as long as I don't get caught!
