Man! They said he needs a full reconstruction and won't be able to play for 6 months. Poor guy. First day of the series...

My bet is looking like it's in the bag - my English work colleague was willing to bet me that Hayden would average under 50 for the test series - some people just have no idea . I was going to accept any bet for over 65, but he haggled poorly - can't believe he let me have have everything over 50

My bum's sore from the gabba seats . Great day but . My two favourite players (apart from Warnie ) getting big hundreds and a lot of amusing misfields from the hapless English .

Was a shame about Jones though, he looked pretty good.

LOL - I am still recovering from that hard wooden bench at the MCG back in September . Yes, big tons to the BAT and Punter, punctuated by some quality misfielding. I agree with the Jones assessment - he was showing promise. Makes you wonder where England are going to get another 8 wickets from. Then we get to look forward to seeing Pidgeon and Warnie unleash the devastation on day 3 .

"ML Hayden's 186* is the second highest score on the first day at
the Brisbane Cricket Ground behind DG Bradman's 200* in 1931/32
and is now the 6th highest score by any batsman in a Test at the
'Gabba"
