Previous messages on this board indicated that I might never be able to restore my "Fallen Paladin" to his former glorious status. I am happy to say that it can be done -- at least early in the game. I started the game by importing my BG1 Paladin with a 13 Rep. Somehow his rep dropped to 6 by the end of Chapter 1. I was well into Chapter 2 before I noticed the problem. I immediately made enough donations to raise his rep to 14 and proceeded to complete Sir Ryan Trawl's quest (Anarg). No change to his status. Then I went to Windspear and completed that quest (leaving Firkraag until later). Lo and behold - he has been restored to Paladin!

They lose their innate abilities, bonuses and such. They turn into a basic fighter that can't get grand mastery a weapon.
