Does anyone else besides myself who play BG1 with the Hardcore rule of Diablo 1&2?(If you die you must delete the saved file) I do this to keep it like a real human who cannot come back from death.

If so how far have you gone without being killed?

I have gone thru alot of chars.(Silke is a real killer of me)

Having played ADOM and Angband I cannot say the idea is foreign to me. However I do not feel it is within the design of this game to attempt playing it roguelike. Too many things are completely random.
To clarify you cannot reload either unless you start anew after closing down the game. Otherwise you could reload just before dying .
As said I have not attempted. I'd most likely use more items to my advantage, such as a potion of absorbtion and mirror image to take out Silke. I feel that I should be able to complete at least the Nashkel mines without any reloads.

I don't bring any chars back to life,NPC or main.

I don't reload either b4 I die. I play true to get the HC experience.(In real life there is no reloads) It adds to the games fun to see how far I can get with just 1 life per char.

***** Maybe a Spoiler*****
Silke gets some of my chars with the rebound of Lightning spell. I kill her no problem but I do lose chars at her.

I was just wondering if anyone else did it.

Do you let dead NPCs just go, or do you ressurrect them? I always thought it was silly that NPCs can be brought back, but that the protagonist can not.

I don't bring anyone back from the dead. If a NPC dies it stays dead. I reform the party and refill the space if I can. If my main char dies I start over.(delete the saved files)

It adds to the game I think. Makes it a bit more of a challenge. I only play HC D2 also.

Try it if you like the idea of a one-shot character that stays dead and can bear the ASCII graphics. Completion is very rare. Do not expect to complete the game the first three months. I have only completed it six times myself.

I understand exactly what you mean Khayne, and I myself subscribe this way of playing. It makes the game much more difficult because you can cheat through reloads. As for myself, the farthest I ever made it, with my PC, without dying, was all the way up to Draconis in Throne of Bhaal. The son of a bitch wiped us out in the blink of an eye. Mainly because I had no idea on what tactics to use to kill him. But it took me the better part of a year and a half to play the series several times, and know how to get out of a jam. Playing realistically also makes you brainstorm faster, because you have to think quick in order to stay alive. However, I treat my PC differently. If any of my party members are killed I usually revive them at one of the temples. The whole godly intervention thing works for me, but since your PC is a spawn of Bhaal, and dying would destroy him or her completely, I just start over.

I have never done this with a party, but with a solo barbarian in BGT. I didn't play quite like you said though, the game was on insane etc. but when I died I just reloaded, so I'm talking about how far I got before dying. I managed up till Durlags, with the jelly's etc.

What's the problem with resurrecting dead NPCs? If the temple's have the power to resurrect characters, I don't see that as cheating. It's no different to using healing spells to recover lost hit points.

Yeah, that is what is 'real life' within the game, ie any NPC that has not had his body destroyed could be resurected. That is allowed within a traditional no-reloads game, is it not?
