Hiya folks!!
I was just wondering what type of RPG's do you play/program. To my knolwedge there are two types, Traditional and Action. Traditional owns the corny stories, from saving the person of high nobility, to saving the world, and just saving someone on a search and rescue op. (Do you see where this is going?) Action also owns the seach and rescue element, but favors more random battles. So, here is my answer. I own many Action and played some Traditional that has gotten on my last nerve. I program Action RPG's also. So read and answer, or just contiunue playing that Genesis...

First of all, welcome to Ironworks, Sayonaran Avon!
I tend to run the gamut in the type of games I play. I'm fond of both those that follow a storyline, and those with an action element. So I like both BG2 and IWD, both Wizardry and Dungeon Siege. My two criteria for game playing are: 1) it must be FUN, 2) it must be a simple-enough interface to not drive me up a wall. There is a third subset now, which is actually part of 2: 3) it has to have enough ambient lighting so that a 38-year-old like myself can see the screen! Unlike elves, I do NOT have infravision and my eyes aren't what they used to be 20 years ago. Other than that, I like pretty much anything. I do tend to steer clear of futuristic stuff, and I don't particularly like it when gaming companies combine sci-fi and fantasy elements together, but I can hang with that as well as long as the sci-fi doesn't overdominate the whole essence of the game. Cheers, -Sazerac

Welcome Sayonaron! Nice to meet you.
I don't consider myself an experienced gamer at all, I've only played Bg1 and am working on BG2. But I do know I like a good plot line, not some cheesy little "kill the bad guys, hack-n-slash" type game. I like riddles, good side quests, interesting Npcs, etc. I guess that would be traditional, but with a slight amount of the action side.

Sayonaron: I'm a great fan of both genres, and would quite happily indulge in either... but overall, story and style make for a better gaming experience.
