There's usually more than enough material for most research project, at least for those not cutting-edge. It's all a matter of deciding exactly what you want to research, and look at the right places for information. Having a project about, say, death wont do; you'll have to limit it down, preferably to a question you want to have answered or problem you want to have solved. After that it usually becomes easier to find material for your research. To use the example with death, there's probably been written more about death than anything else throughout human history* so you don't exactly lack information, but all this is useless if you don't know what exactly you want to research.

Nonetheless, when you start out a project, it's good to consider if there's actually any material available on your chosen research topic. You can create your own material by interviewing people, performing experiments etc., but that's perhaps too much for the average school project.

* OK, It's a guess, but it's a reasonable one.

Most of the time I get pretty far. The only project I'm having trouble with now is Dutch documentation, it have to be opinion pieces with arguments for or against patents on genes. And it doesn't seem many Dutchies are really worried about it as I searched like the complete internet, databases of news papers for the last 10 years (otherwise it's too old) and still it's not as good as my teacher likes it to be Oh well think I have to mail some organizations this holiday, hope they can help me.

I answered sometimes because my answer is complex. I usually research/write well enough to get an A on whatever I do... but never well enough to satisfy my own standards.

Before the introduction of internet, I get my research material from the library. Since then, I can easily find what I want from the internet.

I sometimes have trouble doing reasearch, with trying to find the right information... that's why I go to the library instead.

No. The journal database I use is very good. I have become a bit of a compulsive researcher, with 3 and 4 page reference lists for 1500 word essays... but more reading is always better than less. I don't like to make a point if I don't have at least a couple of studies backing me up.

Not usually. Four years in undergrad history and two years in post-grad gets you there. And Google is great.

Not usually. Studying anthropology, however, has stymied me a few times. You sometimes get huge broad topics that cover the whole of humanity (war, power structures, the city) or tiny specifics (one group in West Sumatra that was studied by one person in 1985). Sometimes you just have to pick your academic battles wisely. All hail google lol. It's a great start but rarely produces a cite-able source for me.
