Punter!
Ricky Ponting has today been named Australia's new one-day international captain, with Adam Gilchrist his deputy. I think it's a great decision, although I would have liked to see Warnie get his chance, if they're going to have a shake-up they need fresh blood, and I think Punter will do a great job . Now all that's left is to drop Junior .

As much as I hate to say it, Ponting will make a good captain for Australia.

I agree with Azure, Warne needs to get back to playing cricket if he wants to be captain.

They can't help in Aelia, it's in the blood so we shouldn't hold it against them . Back on topic, Warnie has his image problem, but in terms of a captain I don't think they could have done better. The short stint that he had a year or two ago bought back some of his better bowling. Some people lose form whem weighed down with captaincy - Warnie thrives on it.
