What is our purporse in life? Are we put here for a reason?
Naturally, I say the answer is Yes. What is our purpose? The "day-to-day" answer would be to live your life in the manner that brings you the most joy/happiness/fulfillment (without causing pain or suffering to others). The BIG answer, though, is that each of us is put here for a specific purpose. Some day, a situation will come up that ONLY you can take care of. It may be comforting a friend who is in desparate need, it may be caring for your family, or it may be inventing the next super-chip that brings the global community even closer together (and makes you a multi-zillionaire in the process ) But, just like any movie where a "chosen one" is groomed from childhood to "save his people", you probably won't know exactly WHAT it is you're supposed to do until the time actually comes to do it. In the meantime, live your life in a joyful manner, drink some beer/ale, and be respectful to those that you meet along the way.

According to the Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, the meaning of life is 42.
I generally don't worry about this, as I don't think life would be different knowing it. "The Meaning of Life was to Invent Coca-Cola" Wow. Big deal

But how can you all just forget about it, knowing the meaning of existence will lead to the meaning of your role in the world, thus leading to a lot of awnsers... I cannot stop thinking neither searching, the search for the thruth is not easy but is worthful, yet our personality may become more decadent than ever... The worst thing that i hate is to be ignorant of what surrounds me, i hate the feeling of it. I'll always search for the thruth.

You'll only feel down due to ignorance of what's around you when you're searching for something... personally, I belive that this is one of those cases where ignorance is bliss, and discussing the meaning of existence is merely a good fun way of exchanging views on the subject.
Maybe there is no one meaning, maybe the meaning of existence is different for everyone else, maybe the only meaning of existence is to exist, if there's no way of finding out, there;'s no use getting hung up about it.

I have great respect for people like you who search for the Truth with such burning passion. And I wish you every success in your search. (The Buddha searched six years for the Truth!) But like the others here, I would counsel a certain degree of moderation. Don't take it that seriously, but find room for a bit of humor and laughter. After all, humor and laughter exist, too -- they're also part of the natural order of things, and as such would surely serve a purpose. Please come back and share the Truth with us when you finally find it, willya, Volguuz? [ 07-05-2002, 09:03 PM: Message edited by: K T Ong ]

Search inward ,Volguuz. Get ear plugs and sit in a dark quiet room with your eyes closed. Now just sit very still and quiet and think about what your place in the world is. Try no to expect anything and just live in the experience of darkness and silence. In time , your answers will come.
If the quiet approach isnt your thing , let me know. I will tell you how to get to the same place the noisy and rowdy way.
