you could do what i do. hit a wall. prefurably plasterboard (so you don't break your hand) although any wal;l will do really. the force of hitting something gets it out of your system. and if the hitting does make you feel better the pain will bring you back to reality. works for me everytime. after a couple of weeks you can punch pretty hard . got to be careful with some walls though. you might go straight through .

I remember trying to live in a house where me and 2 other guys were quitting simultaneously. We took up the project to help each other out. Help each other cheat was all we did. But, I'll never forget the day one roommate nearly, truly, KILLED the other for putting an empty milk carton back in the fridge.

I quit a few years ago. Now I only smoke when I drink. For the past few months, though, that's been a glass of scotch and 2-4 cigs 5 nights a week, all after 10pm. I think I might need to try your aggression-activation program.

The joys of quitting smoking.

There are none, it's hard work. The joys hopefully come once you've finally quit.

You're getting close. A buddy of mine took the money he would spend on smokes and put it all into a big glass jar so he could actually "see" how much money he was saving. Money is the best motivator in the world.

Seeing as I'm a kid and I don't smoke, I can't give you much counsel, but I will say this. I'm extremely happy for you, its good to see that you won't be smoking. A lot of people (including me) are extremely allergic to cigeratte smoke, I lost my voice for awhile because I slept over someones house where their mom smoked. That and cigs are extremely hazardous and unhealthy. Its even better that those cheap son of b*tches that work at Larami and other cig corporations won't be profitting off of your hard earned money.

Try getting a punching and/or kicking bag, that works real well. I used to take my anger out on pillows, but now I just go into the woods and let myself calm down by being surrounded by wildlife.

Money is a good motivator, true, but using it as your primary motivation to quit smoking is ultimately futile in my experience. There are always going to be times when you have excess cash and the temptation to offload some of it can be too great.

I've been to the pub several times since i quit and it was no problem at all. Even being surrounded by smokers at work is only mildly annoying. (You don't realise just how much cigerette smoke stinks until you quit!) All in all, i am very surprised at how easy it is for me to resist the temptation. The only time i even got close was just after i dented my car and that is sort of understandable.

Trying to stay calm in instances that would otherwise not bother me at all is the problem i am facing. Thanks for you support guys and gals.

Trying to quit without any medicinal help can drive you through a wall and make you feel like putting your fist through a wall. Several of the suggestionswork very well. Weight lifting (or some other form of vigorous exercise) helps use up the aggression. Cleaning does too if it's stuff that requires elbow grease. One other thing that works pretty well; if you have a significant other (just as long as you don't feel like lighting up afterwards.) Plus, all these things help you to keep from putting on weight from eating (like so many do when they quit smoking.)

hmm, I should quit some time as well. The problem is I'm too lazy to quit, but not too lazy to go to the local supermarket to get some cigarettes.
