*sends Calaethis back to school to learn what Communism is*
I don't see it would be a problem if it's voluntary. Bear in mind that legally only parents make the decision, though, not the kids. And do they guarantee taking the tags OUT when they reach a cetain age? |

yep. i can
666 i think that if the kid agrees its potentially a good idea, but it could have its drawbacks. like overprotective parents using it to know where there kid is 24/7. it could be a good idea to use on prisoners so if they escape you can find them. just some insane rambleings for you.

Implanting a microchip that allows for locating a child via GPS at any time will not prevent abductions. Those who wish to abduct children are going to do so, chip or no chip. Besides, a sensitive and powerful enough metal/plastic detector would most likely find a chip--who knows what the abductor(s) might do then?

Well I get to play devils advocate here hehehe
For the most part, in the USA it is the parents that decide just exactly how much freedom their children get. So really the kid would have little to say about it sort of like wether they can go to the mall or not or wether they can have those jeans they like. I can see parents that live in areas where there is a high incidence of child abduction being tempted by these. My kids live in a reletively safe rural area so...I dont have to consider this kind of thing, however, if they did live here in the DC area with me and were going to be out of my direct supervision much of the time, I think I would chip them....maybe. Since I live by the creedo "trust but verify" as a parent this would give me a tool to exercise the "verify" part of that l;ittle motto, as it stands I trust my kids...because I have no option Plus they are good kids and haven't been in any trouble yet. I suppose no child likes to admit or even think about the fact that they are not the final arbiter of their lives, but int his case I can see that the devices could be used to save lives. In my book...a LIVE kid who is angry about being chipped is far preferable to a dead kid happy that he wasnt chipped. Of course this whole concept only works when you are tlaking about under aged minors. Once you come of age and are responsible for your self, then the chip should come out. yum...chips.
I guess....if it was done willfully by the child. After all, that is what it's about, right? The child's comfort?

I think this chiop thing was brought in because of all the media coverage with the two girls that were recently abductedd and killed
however, I suspect this is where it would START then you have the prisoners then you have medical patients that need monitoring then there will be more and more excuses until we're all chipped, Big Brother style |

From the title I thought this was about throwing kids into a wood-chipper. Woops! My mistake! Does anyone know if there is a forum for that though?

Its disgusting, the children are too young to understand fully what it means... so, ok, say 5 years later, this child becomes 16... she gets a bf.. things "start to ahppen" between them... and the parents know where they are all the time? its sick. its a form of oppresion. and a violation of human rights. it IS a form of comunism; "For the state"... Big brother. Bah!

Methinks that if it were to become mandatory then in a few generations every1 alive would have the chips, and it will become another step towards total control...you have all seen films and heard theories about conspiracies regarding the Government controlling people? It will turn out like them, where every1 has a chip and has to be accounted for...people will have no freedom and the Government will control all...
Excuse me if I'm being negative...please, don't hesitate to correct me if I've got the wrong idea...
