I'll multiclass to use a prestige class, or I might use a combo that dosent break RP too much, but I dont use pure powergamer combos. Normaly I stick with a pure class all the way, multiclasses are (almost)always a trade off, you get some abilities form the new class, but at the cost of some from the old.

Level 10 is good for chapter 2. By the end of chapter 4 you wont be past level 16, and the game is beatable lower than that.

I either stick with a class all the way or picks up a couple of levels of another to 'strenghten' my character as long as the combination makes sense i.e. I don't take just one level of a class just to get some bonus, that's cheesy. Whether or not I multi-class depends on the class I'm playing.

Is that the crypt where the golem requires a password, if so then you should be able to find it somewhere on that level.

Just a few points:

  1. Monk is one of the worst classes to multiclass, as you get strong abilities all throughout your progression (levels 1-20 all have some good abilities), just like spellcasting classes. If you don't mind losing stuff like quivering palm, spell resistance, and damage reduction, go right ahead and multiclass at 10th level. Personally I wouldn't (but it is your character).
  2. Unless you are going to be adding levels in your race's favorite class (or a prestige class), get ready for an xp penalty of 20%, since your monk class level will not be within one of the other class level.
  3. Though I like the new multiclassing rules (make more sense), I never really do so myself. I agree with andrewas that you lose more than you gain, especially by multiclassing spellcasters. However, prestige classes are a different story; if you really like shadowdancers, and want to add levels in shadowdancer to your monk, go for it. In most cases, if you are taking a prestige class, you decided long before on a character concept. As far as I am concerned, sticking to a concept leads to a more memorable character that you will be more excited to play.

Im playing NWN regular campain wit a monk (human), I'm finishing chapter 2, about to enter Luskan and my char is pretty overpowering. My monk is lvl 13, and until now, playing all the time with no mercenary, I'm finding only easy foes to kill.

I have another char at chapter 2, it is an elf rogue lvl 11, but now IŽll make him lvl up as an assassin. Should be good. But I'm still thinking about the Exp penalty. Maybe I'll make this pure rogue, and after I'll create an human rogue to multclass with no exp penalties.
