OK... OK... OK... I know its a dead horse but I need a DEFINITIVE answer. Luvian, I *think* you said Ribald was the official bonus merchant, and that didnt make sense to me. (SORRY!)
So I did A LOT of reading to find an answer to THIS question: IS RIBALD THE OFFICIAL BONUS MERCHANT DISTRIBUTED ON THE BONUS CD? Answer(to the best of my knowledge):NO. Weimer has TWO different mods that offer "Bonus Merchants". One, as far as I can tell is one that he made to tickle his fancy[ribald]. The other SEEMS to be identical to the official bonus merchant. The one that appears to be official is the "Whirlwind" in Orricks Tower in Kuldahar. He sells 10 Items and in HoF he sells their HoF Counter parts. THAT and it ads the Avarine Decanter On the other hand Ribald sells 16 items that appear the same in HoF and in non-HoF (I MAY BE WRONG!) quote: __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Collector's Edition Bonus Items ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This component gives you the extra items from the Collector's Edition bonus CD. Here's the original README: "Welcome to the Icewind Dale II Bonus Disc. This disc contains eleven unique items that have never been seen before in the Forgotten Realms. They also have Heart of Fury mode equivalents so technically there are twenty-one unique items. Below is where you can find them in the game. If you want to know where they are, read on. If you would rather try and find them yourself, please stop now. We really hope you enjoy the bonus items and your adventures in Icewind Dale II. Good hunting." Tower Store To find the new store, head to the town of Kuldahar. There you will see a tower in the northwest corner of the map. After entering the tower, you will go into dialogue with an NPC. After you finish this dialogue, go to the air elemental in the the western part of the room. He has all of the unique items for sale, except for one... [ Editor's Note: You may want to free him instead. The items will still be available, but you get XP. ] The Avarine Decanter In the Wandering Village, you will meet up with an NPC named Nym. Nym has the Avarine Decanter for sale in his store. It is a very unique item, but it is up to you to decipher its mysteries. __________________________________________________ _____________________________ HERES MY PROBLEM! I consider adding non-official things CHEATING. I know you probably consider this strange to hear from me but thats just my thing. I dont mind Munchkining and Exploiting but "Modification in a way not intended by the game designers/writers" bothers my. Feels like instead of playing within the rules I just went AROUND them. And I dont like that. CAN SOMEONE assure me that the non-Ribald Merchant is the same as in the collectors addition so I can ad it and buy some new goodies? BTW: Ribalds Mod says this: __________________________________________________ _____________________________ BG2 Bonus Merchant ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This adds Ribald Barterman as a bonus merchant selling BG2 equipment. He appears in the Gallaway Trading Post and Conlan's Smithy in Kuldahar. All of the items have been faithfully converted to Third Edition / Icewind Dale 2 rules and statistics. For example, Katanas are now (Masterwork) Bastard Swords, etc. We also continue the tradition of offering items that you shouldn't really be able to use (like the Zerth Blade in BG2). Special Note: "adamantine" does not dissolve in IWD2. For example, Stormcaller, Hammer of Lightning, Order's Nemesis, Life's Blood Drinker, Implaer, Rager of Chaos, Despana Insignia, and Despana Piwafwi are all made from it in vanilla IWD2 and none of them turn to dust. Items: Equalizer Flail of Ages Gesen Short Bow Jaheira's Harper Pin Blackblood Jansen Adventurewear Flasher Master Bruiser Mate Hallowed Redeemer Firecam Full-Plate Mace of Disruption Shadow Dragon Armor Drow Elven Chain Tsuki no Ken Corthala Family Blade Corthala Family Armor Sword of Arvoreen __________________________________________________ _____________________________ ^This just doesnt sound right to me. But "Official" one sounds plausible. And the quote is from the README on the Bonus Disc.

Ok, I am getting tired of hearing about this. I have sent Weimer an email asking for confirmation.
Maybe then I will stop having to read tons of posts asking about this.

Well..... Spoiler alert......
The Avarine Decanter HAS a bonus merchant in it. A Djin or how ever you spell it,that has a couple nice things... not really all that much though. As far as Osrics Tower goes. The Air Elemental or whatever is there anyway, without any mods. So the only unnoficial bonus merchant I can think of,would be the one from the Baldur`s gate game. Selling items from that game.

The problem I have with the elemental merchant in Orrick's Tower is that I can't see how it's a bonus. I bought the regular IWD2, and don't have a bonus CD. But the elemental has been in all my games. So how is it a bonus?

I think some people are getting there wires crossed, and confusing the Elemental merchant in Orricks tower, with the Djin Merchant from the Avarine Decanter.
The one in Orricks tower isn`t part of any Mod. It`s part of the game.

Wow, thanks Luvian! I was expecting THAT kind of response. I know its getting old but I just got this thing in the back of my head that wont let me mess with non-official toys. But I appreciate you going through the trouble of asking. But a final answer will be nice.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! Are you guys just messing with my head? NightOwl2 AND Corwin you BOTH have the Elemental Merchant in your games???? Are we talking about the same place? When I go to Kuhldahar and go to orricks tower, there is some guys son and he offers to sell me Scrolls... THATS IT! I have never SEEN an Elemental Merchant in ANY of my games and I have played through several times. WHAT GOING ON??? Ive heard people talk about an elemental merchant but I just thought I was over looking something. I am confused and angry. This is screwing me up if EVERYONE BUT ME has some mystical Elemental Merchant. AAAHHHHHHHH!

Jack. Look on one of the tables in the tower. Should be on the left hand side of the Smiths son. There is a book laying open. Click on it,and you will see some wierd words.
Talk to the kid again. There will be some talk about how it sounds like a spell or something... I forget the exact dialog. Anyway... once the words are spoken out loud the Elemental appears. If you free him,you get some EXP and he gives all of his items for sale to the kid. Talk to the kid yet again. Now there will be a dialog option to have him show you the items that he just mysteriously got... or something to that effect. No we arn`t messing with ya. He is there. It`s part of the game.
