Chicago Gun Tale

During an excursus on another board which deviated from the news that Chicago had the most murders last year of any US city, I posted this interesting little tale of unfairness toward legal gun owners travelling through Chicago. Take heed, gun owners.

A word to the wise: You know the conventional gun owner wisdom? Such as ALWAYS tell an officer when you've got a gun? DOES NOT APPLY in Chicago. Here's the case my wife prosecuted the other day. Law-abiding military guy driving through Chicago. Gets stopped -- first question: "Any guns or drugs in the car?"

Answer: "Yes, officer, I have a handgun in the trunk in a locked case."

Response: "Sir, please step out of the car." *calls for backup*

Result: Guy was lucky to get off having his gun confiscated & destroyed (C&D all handguns found in Chicago, travelling through or otherwise). For a while he was about to ruin his life by not copping to a plea, until he got it through his head that no matter how unjust it seemed, that was the law here and if he didn't plead he'd get a Conviction on his record, which could mean he'd lose his job.

We no longer live in a world where honesty and fairness matter.

That's what happens when too many lefties gather in one place. They start passing stupid laws.....oh wait, that goes for the other guys sometimes too.

actually, john, you should just do what everyone else in chicago does - dont admit to the concealed weapons you carrry.

Across Canada, there were 555 homicides last year. There are lots of lefties up here as well.

Hmmm.... Canada and Chicago have about the same number of homicides for last year. Did 40% of yours go unsolved?

Not that I know but Toronto had around 70, although the police chief said that there would have been many more if it were not for the doctors, and paramedics doing such a good job. Many of these are gang, mob related hits. My comment was about lefties, less murders yet more lefties.
