I have to say that i think Wizardry 8 is a WAY better game than W&W and i have played troug W&W 2 times and Wizardry 8, 6 times and the story in Wizardy 8 is also better.
The thing i did not like in W&W was the night you could not see where you walked and the light spell dosent work any good at all and you could not "rest" to next day so that was bad but i liked the game pretty much anyway and the towns was also annoying i think. In Wizardry 8 the character development is WERY great and easy and the spells is the best i have ever seen in a game today maby Wizardy 7 have better spells! |

I've gotta laugh, Megabot. One of the things you didn't like about W&W was that at night, it was dark? Hmmm.... let's keep the reality level down, shall we?
Actually, all that aside, there is a tweak that you can do to increase the light levels. Set the gamma setting higher, and if using the patch, use the base gamma level tweak in the startup icon properties, and you can actually make it pretty bright. I can definitely tell the difference between night and day, and while it's darker at night, it still is light enough for me to go adventuring. Things can just get a little ... closer... than during the day. Besides, nothing compares to the thrill of seeing a shadowy creature turn into a mantrap! It's a... it's a... it's a.... MANTRAP!!! As for resting, I like not having to rest. Since your hit points and spell points naturally replenish, it makes for an easier-playing game. All of which goes to prove that everyone has their own tastes in every game, and every single one of them is right. Go get 'em!

Yes i did try the the gamma thingie and the patch but the game would not be so bright and i had damn problems with it when it was night so dont tell me what i se or not se maby it must be the monitor then?? Anyway i LIKE to rest in games so you get up mana and health fast and it can be day fast like in 98% of other RPG`s. So i cant se any humor in that night and light thingie at all.
And if the game not had have to be rushed out to the market then i think it would have the rest thingie implemented in the game! But the game is cool anyway i liked it but Wizardry 8 is better that is what i mean. [ 10-02-2002, 03:17 PM: Message edited by: Megabot ] |

Peace, Megabot. I don't disagree with your opinions, preferences, or efforts in making things work. I just wasn't sure if you were aware of the gamma and light switch settings in the game -- many people aren't, and play in perpetual darkness because of it.
And I agree whole-heartedly about the problems that resulted from rushing the game out. There were a whole lot of things left out in order to make the ship date which would have been greatly appreciated. As for your system, who knows. It could be a monitor, a software setting, or the game just doesn't work for you. Anything's possible. Obviously, if you've played it through twice, you haven't just tried and given up; you've really worked at it, and your experience in doing that shows. So, let me buy you a drink in the newly opened Boogre Bar 3, and be done with it.

Some of us play in darkness, finally try adjusting our gamma, and still play in darkness. W&W just does not get along with my new graphics card. I don't mind the night thing though. I just keep playing with whiskas. Can't see far at night, but at least they don't bump into the trees.
Guess I'll have to try Wizardy 8 to compare. I have been avoiding it since I never finished Wiz 7. I got all the way through that damn teleporter maze business to the end, and couldn't summon what'shername, even though I had freed her and had the item I was supposed to need. Never did figure out what I was doing wrong there.
