For any of you who have played multi-player games with a DSL connection, is there any special way to dial into a host's computer? I keep getting a "cannot open the line" message. But clearly I hove no trouble with my connection since I'm currently here. Is the a ToB bug? Someone please help.

Are you 100percent sure you all have the following:
1) you have the correct ip (if a dynamic connection for host, it will change) 2) you all have IDENTICAL versions of the game including patches 3) you are using the TCP/IP protocol and it is chosen when you start up Good luck! it might be some problems with your router (or whatever you use to get your connection though) that blocks certain ports. I had the same problem myself (and still have)

I may not have been very clear earlier. All I'm trying to do is to dial directly into someone else's computer who is hosting the game. I would assume with DSL that I can still dial directly. Is there something that I may have overlooked? ------------------ |

If you have identical versions of the game, got to play, choose TCP/IP at the top (instead of single) then "join" if someone else is hosting, and it will give you a box fothe ip. Type it in and hit 'done' then 'done' againa and you should join. May take a few minutes, though. Last night I played a multi for the very first time - with two wonderful ladies btw - and we experienced frequent uninvited attempts by strangers to join us.
a) Is there any other way to prevent this from happening than unchecking the button "listen to requests to join" ? The problem with doing that is it will also block anyone of the wanted participants who has dropped from the game - as it happened to me very often yesterday - from rejoining. b) How on your earth do these strangers find you and your mp game ? Thanks in advance for your input ? ( Cloudy, reading your last post here I realized once again how beautiful that picture in your signature is ) ------------------ So long ! If you can't block people out before they come in the game, then in the permissions section there should be a bubble that says accept new players. (Something of that nature.) Anyway just click on this and viola no one else can join your game. People constantly joining gets annoying doesn't it?

Thank you very much, Redblueflare !
And yes, it gets very annoying, although kind of funny, too. But how do they find the game server in the first place, without knowing its ip ? ------------------ So long !
