The cavern was dark like it had never known light. How long had this lasted for 5 minutes for an eternity? Maybe light was only part of their imagination all along, maybe it never really existed.
Through the unnatural darkness Dantes could 'feel' The pure hatred coming from his opponent. Hatred of the living, and hatred of the positive material energy that Dantes was composed of. Dantes took a measured step back waiting for his opponent to close. He felt an icy pain gripping his chest as the creature lashed out at him yet again, but Dantes was expecting this, and shrugged the pain off. He quickly turned, shifting his momentum from one foot to the other as his body twisted, sending his katana in a blindingly quick arc, right in the direction of where the creature was attacking him. Had it been visible, the katana would be glowing a brilliant crimson red at the nearness of the undead and in anticipation of biting into the flesh of that closest to its bearer.

Edit: grammar type stuff

Anarrima

The spell-prayer was complete. The last word, Iluminará! jumped from the lips of the elf as fast and determined as light, and light was the reward thereof. The instant and miraculous return to the world of the seeing was not readied for, so anybody with vision was blinded by the sudden shock of the dispelling of darkness and had to cover their eyes in pain. Anarrima fell to the ground and covered her eyes, rubbed them, and tried to adjust...then closed them again to entreat her goddess for the Dismissal spell that would send the undead to thier rightful place. She had not noticed anything else.

OOC>>>To all involved. The darkness has been lifted. All players must react to the light as though stunned or disoriented for one turn.

Game Master Notes

* There are 23 Grimlocks visible on the cavern floor.
* 7 Grimlocks are fighting the Elemental.
* 16 Grimlocks are scattered in various parts...some engaged in battle with good people.

For Dantes: The light had returned. The wraith sped away to find a shadow to hide in, as it was rendered helpless in the light. It found a nearby shadow and lingered there.

Brendon 45/70 HP
He swun his axe again, trying to catch something, but then he saw the beast he was trying to hit as it appeared suddenly in front of him...and the sight blinded Brendon, making him drop his axe stupidly and cover ihs eyes, yelling in pain for the return of light. The Grimlocks took no notice of the light, nor perceived anything had happened at all. They lunged at the human and attacked again.

OOC>>>Brendon has taken 5+7=12 Damage from two Grimlocks in this round. HP = 33/70 HP

For Syrathic

As the creature lunged for you in it's rage attack...the lights returned. You could now see the creature coming at you, but the light made it hard to perceive how close the creature was, or anything else, as you have to squinch your eyes closed in an effort to block the pain of the hurtful light.

OOC>>>I will let you determine your character's move, if he can get out of the way in time, or not.

Unseen and undetected in the absolute darkness, there was a secret going on that nobody has yet perceived. The Grimlocks had been a great coverup and a force that sufficiently weakened the defences of this group of gnomes, elves, and men. Their true part in this blight was even unknown to them, for they had not been told but to kill, and if they found an outsider, kill more! A secret pack of Shadow Hounds had been able to get by everybody's notice, and the unsuspected darkness had helped alot. Now that the light had returned, the hounds took once again to the cavern shadows and disappeared from sight. Their ability to be concealed was terribly lethal, and it would prove this day to be the reason for much sorrow and pain.

Two dozen hounds had now been able to work their way to the villa of the Elders, and when the time had presented itself...they had leaped for teh throats of those poor gnomes. Each Gnome Elder was severally thrashed and torn by two or three hounds each. The killing was complete and without error. Nobody had really even noticed because the light had rendered everyone dazed for a bit. This pack of hounds now sensed the presence of an outsider Lion in the area, along with an elf. They began to track this scent.

Many more of those hounds leaped from their shadowy hides to tear the throats of unsuspecting victims as they were rubbing their eyes to adjust to the light. Many screams were never allowed to escape thier throats. The hounds were deadly efficient. They would leap from a shadow where they were concealed, kill, and return to hiding. In this way, nobody really knew what was going on, nor where the attacks were coming from.

OOC>>>

A group of shadow hounds has invaded the area. It is unknown how many there are. The Elders of the people have been slain. Many more gnomes are being slain. The 7 remaining Grimlocks have successfully slain the Elemental. The shadow and the wraith that were summoned creatures are not visible at this time.

If I have left anything out, please let me know. Oh...and welcome to hell. This was a little surprise that Cyril hoped that you'd all enjoy. I do!

Syrathic HP:74/74

Syrathic was relieved to escape his initial charge unscathed. It was a bit of a risky attack, but it had succeeded, and that was all that mattered. But it seemed to have an unexpected consequence: the Grimlock seemed to become angry. The Elf began to wonder if the Grimlock was entering a beserker rage. That would make things more complicated.

Speaking of complications, just after the Grimlock charged him again, the Elf was blinded by a great light. He closed his eyes, hoping that when he opened them again, his eyes would adjust to the new light quickly. But he still had to move out of the way of the Grimlock, even if he couldn't see it. Without another hesitation, he rolled to the right, going a little forward as well.

Apparently, it was enough to evade the Grimlock, and when he popped out of his short roll, the Elf turned back around and prepared to swiftly counter the Grimlock's next attack.

at the shock of light two distinct voices cry out. if anyone could see they would see a lion with his paws over his eyes, finding the light extremely excruciating to his sensitive senses, and a young woman crumpled beside him her face buried in mane, hands and the hood of her cloak.

if she could think she would protect her back. being so vulnerable is not her favorite position, but the will to call up her powers seems to be temporarily cut off.

Dantes' seemingly elven eyes were completely blinded by the brilliant light now in the cavern. Well maybe the light wasn't so brilliant, but as opposed to the deep unnatural darkness it was like the brightest day of summer. He recoiled as his vision became fuzzy and his eyes started watering. He was still invisible. But there Dantes heard the sounds of a new threat. The baying of hounds. Dantes didn't know what this meant, but he was sure it couldn't be good for the already stretched thin party. His katana slid swiftly and silently back into its sheath as Dantes tried to regain his vision enough to cast a spell.

OOC: WOOF WOOF!!! First my skeletons then ALL the gnome elders? Youre mean Larry

Dankorona

Seemingly forgotten in the darnkness Dankorona had wandered around near the women and children trying to keep them calm, and preparing to defend them should and grimlocks venture over that way. That is until the lights came on and the death started. A large group of shaodw hounds had snuck beyond their perimeter defences An savagely attacked the gnome elders right when the darkness was dispelled. Dankorona could barely make out the dark shapes of the hounds through his teary eyes, but he knew he must defend his post at all costs. Unfortunately he could barely see, but that wasn't the case for the shadow hounds. After tearing a gnome elder limb from limb two of the beasts wanted more blood, so with their snouts dripping the crimson blood of their last gnomish victim they headed for the first available target. A helpless looking gnome with a tiny hammer. The creatures picked up speed as they closed the short distance between themselves and their next potential victim. The beasts leaped on the air hoping to jump on top of their smaller victim and weigh him down to the ground so they could finish him off. Just at this moment Dankorona stumbled back over a rock and fell flat on his back. The hounds sailed over their target, and tried to adjust in mid air, but to no avail. The two hounds sailed well over their intended target and crash landed rather abrubtly, rolling head over tail for three full rotations before coming to a stop, disoriented and dazzed.

For Kethotar

The person that you can now see clearly, as the light has returned, is a human, and appears to be a mage based on his attire. He is holding a katana that has a fading red light to it, and in the distance, you make out what appeared to be a Wraith escaping into the shadows. The human has not noticed your presence.

OOC>>>Exxon, that is Dantes, as he is the closest person alive in your area.

For Posessor and Shadow

Four Grimlocks in the area have sensed your presence and are attacking. They were far enough away that you see them coming if you are looking ahead. ONe is armed with a glowing green axe, another has nothing, another has an ordinary axe, and the last has both an axe and a dagger. All four seem to be a bit larger than their squirmy brethren. They are moving in a wide arc around the two of you.

For Syrathic

The strange smile that has come across the beast's face makes you sick at the possible meaning of it. Suddenly, a shadow hound has appeared from the darkness and has attacked you! Then the Grimlock moved in, and reached out to grab your arm. He pulled you into him, wrapping his arm around your throat and is choking you from behind. Looing ahead, you see green slits that are the only visible signs that the hound is in the darkness, wanting another bite from you.

OOC>>>

Syrathic, you have taken bite damage for 9 points, and are being choked.
