Uhhh...if you kill King Freyedies, are there any serious ramifications?

Nope. In fact, there's no serious ramifications to killing any NPC in the game. Ridiculous Oath, huh?

Oops...except one. Make SURE you've talked to him about the "Mine Trolleys" so that they'll work!! Otherwise you'll never get down to Raskalion if you're on the Assassin quest.

Thanx, Saz. I am not on the Assassin Quest because I did kill Scantril.....Kill happy I guess. But the King's treasure was just too appetizing to pass up. I guess I should have been an Assassin!

In fact, if you manage to kill Grue Morde (the stranger/snake man) at the very beginning of the game, you get to kill him a second time on the way to Brimloch Roon. I wouldn't try attacking him on the first time through the game tho. It takes a pretty high level character or party to kill him.
But if you can manage it, there is a reward. He is worth a lot of exp and you don't have to listen to the mayor tell you that Gareth is dead. You never see Gareth again, but at least you don't hear that he is dead. Knarfling |

Interesting. I really hated hearing he was dead. Now, if I start from the beginning, I am definitely going to try and kill Grue Morde! Thanks.

If you have qualms about killing the King, (I did) you can always steal the key from him. Make sure that you have a character high in pickpocket skills or he will catch you and you will have to kill the king. (Charm spell doesn't seem to work on him much.) But on the last two games, I stole the key and emptied the treasure room. I left the gold bars and some of the equipment behind, but walked away with some cash and jewels that were nice.
I know that I am saying that it is okay to steal but not okay to kill, but I am okay with that. ~breaks into a rendition of "I'm a highland rogue and I'm okay."~ Knarfling |

Did you at least get the King's hammer? It's a very fine blunt weapon and can get you about 16000-20000gp when you sell it (or you can bless it and make it quite deadly).

Made me laugh that I could loot through all the King's treasure vaults with all the guards around and not one of them did a thing!
