1) Spirit class/Pr level

Before changing role of my priest i got him to level 11, acquiring level 7 spiritcraft
and vinecraft. What I didn't do was learn all of the spiritcraft spells, thinking I
could finish them off while either paladin or monk. I changed his class to ranger,
finishing learning all the vine spells, and have worked him up to level 14 - doing a
lot of soloing, with spawn & difficulty set to hard. The problem is that having gotten
that level he still doesn't have all the spiritcraft spells - missing 2 level 7 spells
- and am wondering if I either screwed up as pr to start with, that perhaps I should have
not changed class until acquiring the level 7 spells, or that if I want to get the
final 2 spells I'm going to have to solo another 2-3 levels?
(Which would be an estimated 600-750k xp )

Suggestions/thoughts would be much appreciated.

2) Bard
Is there any real benefit to becoming a bard? I know it gives access
to the Moon magic spells but am wondering about if it's worth it?
Then again, if one is planning on becoming a ninja/assassin, would it
be beneficial to be a bard and gain some of the moon spells then multi
to ninja after so that would should be able to fully learn all of the
moon spells instead of working up to an inordinate level as bard to
acquire them all?

3) Button in a Serpent Temple room
When you enter the serpent temple from the back entrance, before getting up to kreug,
there is a room with 2 exits, each having a skull lever. The one on the left has a
chest which has the first monkey statue. In that room, on the wall, there is a button.
Does that button open/close/stop/start anything - or more importantly, is it important
to press/will i not be able to do something if i don't press it?

(Thus far, having not pressed it i've been around almost all of the temple, except
for doing elissia/xydusa etc)

4) Belfry
Having read some of the old messages about the serpent temple i was intrigued
to see the info about the belfry, and managed to get up there after a few attempts.
The belfry spiders are very nice xp - comparable to Rumphy(!) [6845xp solo]
One of the chests has a nice 2-hand sword in it.
I will agreet that it definately does look like it was planned for more, and i
am intrigued by the one section that has a different color/style wall surface.
I wonder what was going to be there.

5) I love mantraps. O Found their baby brothers while exploring - creeping spores. Learned the hard way that fire is best on them.

1. It depends on the levels of the missing spells. Each role can acquire any spell but:
a) If the magic school is "yours" then you can learn any spell in that school up to level

min(your_level, corresponding_magic_skill)

b) Otherwise, you can learn any spell in that school up to level

min(your_level, corresponding_magic_skill/2)

Assuming that you have vinecraft 7, you will be able to learn vine spells up to spell level 3 (at character level 3) in any role. When you upgrade your vinecraft to 8, you will be able to learn vine spells up to spell level 4 (at character level 4) in any role. And so on.
Therefore, always try to learn high spell level spells first. You can learn the low spell level spells in any role.

2. I don't think the bard is worth of it. But your theory is correct. You can gain a lot of moon spells by becoming a bard temporary, learning some spells and then becoming a ninja or an assasin (or both) and continue gaining moon spells. This will cost you much less XP than you would need becoming a ninja immediately.
But beware. Once you become a bard, you gain a rather useless Music skill and you will be unable to get rid of it. The Music skill can scroll out another useful skill from your skill window.

3. The button closes and opens the crate leading to the room. You can "shut the door" behind yourself and loot the chest without being disturbed by any monster. Then you can click the lever again and leave the room. That's all. In the other words, a not wery useful lever.

4. The contents of the chests is completely random. As far as the spiders are concerned, they can diesase you. Be careful!

5. Yes.

Thanks for the info and quick response Radek.

re: 1....
My former pr, in one savegame, is now 11th level pr, 14th level ranger with level 12 vine & spirit craft. All vine spells have been learnt, rebirth & exorcism yet to learn. (Having to get 2-3 levels as ranger from this point would seriously suck - as well as taking a silly amount of time, even killing rumphy) [glad i have a save of my chars before changing class, but that's going back quite a step]

re 2.
I thought about it for my current warlock-wizards, wanting to make one a ninja or samurai and another zenmaster.

re 3.
Thanks. (Had kinda hoped it might open the strange wall in the belfry

re: 4. As far as the spiders are concerned, they can diesase you. Be careful!
Ok. Have cure poison - I found out the first time I got to serpent temple that it was a necessity.

re 4: The spiders can DISEASE you, therefore, you will need the Cure potion or the Cure spell - or you will lose abilities, HPs, etc. Naturally, the spiders can poison you as well.

The belfry in the Serpent Temple. You can find 4 Belfry Spiders there. Each of them is about 10 000 XP. Each of them can disease you. Naturally, each of them can poison you.

up in the top of the serpent temple, in the area where there's an elevator that goes among three floors...

on the top floor, there's a very high ceiling. If you look up high on the walls, on one wall you'll see an opening. Window ledge, doorway, call it what you will.

Stack crates and barrels, climb on up, and you'll be in the belfry.

Just to remark on the cure poison spell again: When I play the game from scratch I never acquire the cure poison spell for my priest, since the chest in the left hand side of Elyssia's auditorium always contains a book of cure poison. Furthermore the chest in Kreug's study always contains a book of venom bite. So I have always focused on having my spellcasters learn as many spells as possible as fast as possible.
I have played the game from scratch three times and I have never found it to be that important to have the cure poison spell ready when entering the temple. Useful, yes, but not totally important.
