Many people seem to be dismissive of the occult as a fat load of hogwash. But I'm apt to wonder if one would receive the same response if the same sceptics were presented with certain allegedly real occult practices which are claimed to yield actual results if one really tried them. Such as, say, a ritual magic spell involving drawing magic circles and lighting candles, etc. Would you shy away with a certain vague feeling of uneasiness because something in your mind makes you think there might be 'something' to it -- something which, once set in motion, might be disastrous? Or would you still laugh it off -- perhaps even try it just for a few laughs and just to show yourself and everyone that it's all hogwash?

It doesn't matter if it exists or not. If unbeatable facts about all supernatural phenemons would surface Humans wouldn't be ready to understand it anyway and dismiss it...

Perhaps there are supernatural forces. I doubt candles, chants, and circles have anything to do with it except being decorations for human tastes.

All the clothing, candles, and obejcts, etc. are designed to evoke a certain mood, to facilitate a certain emotional/meditative state needed to focus on the energies at hand. Trying to manipulate these forces without the proper study, experience/training, and maturity can be dangerous; if not physically then psychologically, because you would not be ready for it. Your first experiences with supernatural forces are the most formative; as with children, abuse suffered early can scar for life.

I feel I must comment that I primarily see things such as magic, spiritual commune, psychics, witchcraft, etc. as faciful fantasy and the stuff of con-men and sleight of hand experts. Look at the testimonials of some psychics who turned honest and showed how it was done. The only thing supernatural is the cleverness at how it's done!
