So what do you do when you encounter the empathic manifestation if you want to solo a mage? My Bhaal powers do not include the spell I would need and I can't use priest scrolls. Do you simply have to go grab the appropriate character for this encounter and then get rid of them? That isn't exactly soloing now, is it.

I wouldn't suggest 'hiring' an NPC for the job.
It would break the true feeling of soloing.

Minor ToB High Level Abilities spoiler ahead.

Do you have ToB installed?
If so, choose Summon Planetar as a HLA pick.
The Planetar can cast Heal.

If not - don't worry.
The Unseeing Eye quest isn't too hot on Mage items, to say the least.

Hey, thanks for the info. No, I don't have ToB. Unfortunately I am one of the forgotten Macintosh users who will probably NEVER get to play ToB. So I went and borrowed Keldorn, and dropped him immediately thereafter. Oh well, guess I can't say I soloed

The only items with Healing abilities that i can think of right now are in ToB, which Lewzbel does not have.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, there are the gloves of healing, but I think they are only useable by paladins and clerics (maybe druids), and there is also a staff of healing, I think...hmmmm....maybe that is usable by a mage.

Try the staff of curing, found in one of the tombs in the Graveyard district.

I don't know how, or why, but this works:
1) Meet the Manifestation
2) Leave the Manifestation
3) Return at some later time
4) Manifestation will die upon entry

Aren't there some scrolls of Cure serious Wounds lying around the game that mages can use, but not learn? I seem to remember finding those and remembering it b/c I had never seen a cleric spell on a scroll before. It is also possible that only priests can use them.
