So you are Icelandic, huh? That's cool! (Groan. Pun intended!)

So, Fljotsdale, are we going to get well chiden if we call you Riverdale? (Maybe Riffy for short... How does that sound? )

I was here in march (I think) under the name Row Firecam. I posted a bit, then sold my computer and lost my password. Got a new computer, but found out the boards were gone, But found it again about 3 weeks ago and been lurking since then.
It's nice to be back

Oh and I should add that I don't know any old Icelandic either, it's not so diffrent from todays Icelandic except every word can only have one syllable... So to them Dalur was Dalr. I don't know why, maybe the vikings had a split tounge or something

Yeah - according to my OI tutor, it stands in a similar relationship with modern Icelandic as Shakespearean English does to modern English: understandable but a bit obscure at times!
He also said that 'vikings' was not a good name for them, since it only applied when they 'went a'viking' (raiding in ships). The rest of the time they were just mostly farmers and traders - very good, far-travelling traders. And mercenary fighters, too! Multi-talented, in fact!
