Why should it screw up your speech?

Let's put it this way. I've been in Adelaide for 5 years. Really. And during my stay there I saw a lot of that. Oh, and I liked it, too.

As for other people in my country, I suppose as a general rule we Asians do like to picture Caucasians that way in our minds as well.

What were you expecting? I have been to Melbourne for a one-month stay, and I enjoyed myself very much. The pace of life over there is very relaxed compared to over here. I intend to retire in Australia, a place I consider relaxing( well to me at least).

Ah, yes well Australia is a beutiful country buy i was basing my speech on the fact that people from other countrys saw us as lazy, beer drinking people who say "bloody hell" a lot. But knowing that you dont is better. At least noone is going to start talking to their friends in the middle of me saying my speech about how much of an idiot i am and that thats not how you see us at all but thanks to you i will be saved that embarrasment

So what is the view or slant on your speech? - do you think that others around the world see a caricature of an aussie? - read my thread about the custom kutters from queensland i met at the local bar last night. guy looked just like one of the local farmers/rednecks, was his accent that gave it away.

If your responses here are screwing up your speech, change the thrust of it to how an online community containing aussies sees them versus the great unwashed masses not online.
Here you will get a skewed response to your survey due to the fact that what we see of your countrymen is thier thoughts and reactions to topics and in the flow of onversations online. They think like us(mostly) write like us(mostly) use the english language like us(mostly) Why should you be suprised, then, when we think they look like us also(mostly)? - 'specially since they do,

speaking of speech, if you give me some particulars, I may be able to help a bit, used to teach intro to public speaking at one of our state universities.
good luck

EDIT; we posted at the same time, I see your response now

Well to post the whole speech here is to waste time cause its some 800 words long but i will post my origional Introduction to my speech (the one i had before this thread ).

Good morning, today I am going to be talking to you about how some texts have helped form a view of the typical Australian identity and that there is indeed no one Australian identity but many. We are a multicultural country- originating from immigrants and convicts from all over that world- and no-one can rightly prove that the typical “Ozzie” is a beer gutted, singlet wearing, slow talking, tradesman and drunk who’s most commonly spoken fraise is “Get me a beer woman!” Nor is he a … wearing bushman that runs around, hyped up on drugs, saying “kricey” every 10 seconds. Today I will be drawing my information from the movies “The Castle”, “The Man from Snowy River” and “Muriel’s Wedding”. From these movies I hope I can prove to you that there is no definite Australian Identity.

And here is my new one-

Good morning, today I am going to be talking to you about how some texts have helped form a view of the typical Australian identity. People say there is no Australian identity and that we are a multi-cultural country but when you picture an Australian what do you see? Is it a Chinese man with a stubby? Is it an Italian person wearing a singlet? No, it isn’t is it? It is most likely a fat guy sitting on a couch with a wet patch on the front of his shirt with a beer watching sports. Why is this what most people think of when they think of an Australian and is it accurate? As a matter of fact it is virtually only us that pictures us as that. Many people from other countries think of us as sun tanned average looking people, possibly with a beard and casually dressed. It is impossible to think of what an Australian would look like if you simply say that there is not identity you cant just say “There is no REAL Ozzie so why bother talking about a fat man on a couch?” I plan to prove to you- using only the movies Muriel’s Wedding, The castle and the man from snowy river- that if there were an Identity that it would have to be the beer drinking, heavily accented, slang speaking man that many people think of.

Any advise? Well it may not make some sence because you dont have the task sheet that says what i have to do for it.

I see (female) my ex-girlfriend, Julia Sweeney, and (male) that pic of Memnoch with the blonde on Stealthy's. Not the boys from Monty Python singin "Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy old beggar, who could think you under the table."
