I've been holding off buying oblivion till the price drops (already played through the main storyling on a friend's copy last year) - now they've announced a game of the year edition with the expansions and the original game packed together, coming out in september. So the question is - do I grab a marked down version of the vanilla game and pay extra for the expansions, or wait and see what they price the GOTY edition?

If it were me, i'd definitely wait a bit longer if it means you'll get it cheaper. But not just for the price. By September, the modding community will certainly have caught up and released SI compatable mods. Half of mine don't work in SI at present.

Of course, by September, Oblivion will have lost the edge of its one true strength. Graphics. Real RPGs should be timeless.

I would wait for the GoTY addition. Most likely, once you factor in the plug-ins and such, the price will be cheaper

I generally wait until the price drops. I can usually get two games for £15 at my local Game store after a while
