A few days ago an ebay member was selling 3 new laptops at a good price.
After emailing him, he took down the auction because two were sold already and he reserved the last for me.
So we reached an agreement, I pay half money in cash to his bank and then half to receiving.
Silly me for not asking for his phone number. I have his bank details and name though.
He asked me to pay the money in the morning because he will have a meeting in the afternoon. therefore he can post straight away.
This was monday and it is now wednesday.
I still haven;t received anything.
I can see him on msn messenger but he either won;t answer me or my messages come back as "undelivered".
His brother did answer it once and said that he was due back soon and would contact me, but he hasn't.

Any advice at all??

Contact any authority on eBay. I don't use it (for the reason that this precise situation will land in my lap). Unlucky, hope things turn out ok.

Ouch bad karma >_<

Like Horatio and Stormmystic said you've gotta tell the eBay authorities, hopefully they can sort things out for you.

This is a slight chance, but for laptop it may take more than two days to travel, or then he just couldn´t get it to post at time. I don´t know, but I would wait until tomorrow, at least...

Problem is this was outside ebay
He posted the offer on ebay but I bought it outside ebay.
He offered me free delivery, so maybe he used the cheapest 1 week delivery.
But he did say it would arrive the day after..

I once recieved a package with an "urgent - next day delivery" sticker on it, dated one month previously. I dont want to think about all the nasty emails I set to various persons trying to get that damn package.

So its not certain that youve been ripped off. But if you cant get in contact or the laptop dosent arrive soon enough, you could probably get in touch with his bank about it. Dont know for sure if they would be able to help though, but its worth a try.

Avatar,

Where does the seller live? I see you are in Cambridge (Mass??). Tell me the seller's location and how he was going to ship it (Post Office, UPS, etc) and I can tell you approx. when it should arrive. I've worked in Purchasing for several years.

If he sent it by UPS, it shouldn't take more than 7 days max (going from coast to coast USA). If he used the Post Office and only paid for Book Rate (quite likely), it could be at least 7 days and maybe up to 10.

If he lives in Canada - you're looking at 2-3 weeks due to increased inspections of packages.

Don't give up just yet.

Also, since you have his banks routing number, go to YOUR bank and have them trace the location. Then contact that bank and explain the situation. Perhaps your bank could "retract" the electronic transfer (Dunno about that, but it won't hurt to ask).

Best of luck, man. Let us know what happens.

I believe he lives in Cambridge, England , and everything here is done by the national post office, which should be alot quicker - two or three days for a package, unless it was going the entire length of our enormous country
