I posted a couple of weeks ago that my game crashes when I try to place the Chaos Molari on it's pedistal at ascention peak. I have tried everything I can think of and it is still happening. the error message is get when the game crashes is:
Debug Assertion in module C:\Projects\Wizardry8\Engine Code\Trigger.cpp line 4297 failed: expression (ivar!=bad_index) evaluates to false. Can anyone help me with this or do I just not get to finish the game? Catacomb |

I'm assuming you have patched the game? I know there's mention of one of the patches fixing some game crash problem in Ascension Peak. It's a bit tricky to patch compared to the usual just run the file and let it patch on its own on most games. Basically you unzip the contents of the patch into the main Wiz 8 folder.

Your best bet is to send the savegame to Sir-Tech in a zipfile and let them try to fix the problem. I've not seen anyone other than yourself report this particular problem and I read three different boards.

I haven't experienced this particular bug, but I do know that a lot of them are fixed by the last patch. You should make sure that the patch is installed in your \Program Files\Sir Tech\Wizardy 8\ directory, and that you are seeing the Overwrite prompt.
I actually uninstalled the game, keeping my save games, then reinstalled it and reinstalled the patch. Seemed to work for me. |

Thanks for the input...I did patch the game. I'll have to think about whether it's worth going to the trouble of doing the zip thing...sigh.

Did you ever try placing one of the other artifacts to see if they cause the game to crash before using the Chaos Moliri?

Yes, I've placed the others...no problem. I might try reinstalling the patch.
