If I copy music off of a cd to MP3 format, is there any kind of copy right infringement? Full credit will go to the composer/composers.

if you sell the CD you will be in hot water. If it is for personal use...it's no one's business but yours.

Question Mark

As long as you only use if for personal use, and not distributing it, there is no copy-right infringement (RIAA would love to make it so though). Otherwise you must contact their publisher for rights (listing credit won't cut it) and fees.

Yeah. What they said. At least you care enough to ask. Don't sell it, don't distribute it, don't trade it, don't profit from it. Or, at least don't get caught.

Hmm... a thought just occurred to me. I don't know how making a "mix CD" and giving it to a bf or gf would be taken. I know you can make your own, though. Of course, if I had a nickel for every "mix tape" I made or received. Wasn't there a joke about this in HIgh Fidelity??

Thanks for the info all, but it has become a moot point, as the aforementioned music is readily available for download at the producers, bioware, site. Thanks any way, and good night.
