Morguerat

The former knight studied his companions in the time it took Joseph to unravel an opening. Senora seemed to be studying something with a great deal of intensity, trying to mask that same intensity, as he had noticed, she usually did. Joseph however was a more unusual subject. His casualness was well practised, a mask, like nearly everything about the man. And although he looked hale and hearty after working with the tower, it could not have been a simple task, Even the minor spells Helm had granted were phycially and mentally taxing, working with power such as this allowed Morguerat a rare opportunity to glance beneath the mask momentarily and see how taxing it had been. Walking carefully to the man's side Morguerat whispered "I'm sure you won't accept my offer, but if you need a hand, or shoulder in the time ahead, mine are here, by your side."

Larry

Larry just stared dumbly for a moment at what had just occurred. Joseph had tapped into the very fabric of magic and unwove it? But...how? Certainly, this man was no ordinary user of magic. Was he a gifted Chosen or something? He'd never heard of magic like this on Ironworks.

Shrugging it off suddenly, and ignoring warning, Larry launched himself through the gap that was torn open, disappearing into the darkness beyond.

Elsewhere - Far from these most recent threads on the RP Forum

Myron Epimetheus

He travels by the shuffling steps of feet that hover a few inches above the ground and he mutters softly all the while. He has traveled deep beneath the surface of recent threads to these imperfectly remembered depths where other tales, the turning of their posts long since falling dormant, slumber – referred to from time to time but read only seldom, if ever, and then only by those who have some lingering affection for games no longer played. The Lord of the Forums is a most curious game, existing in its own right and yet referring constantly to other games, games that have been forgotten by many or that have been dormant so long that most simply do not know them. These references ground much of that tale – or at least would seem to do so. But these references have not been checked, and something of the tale does not ring true. No, that is too gentle a way of expressing it. A lie has been told, a terrible lie, and the truth, if it is to be found at all, will be found here in this dormant and neglected thread of a worthy game that now lies buried beneath the weight so many thousands of posts, most of which had been written by those unaware of this game and the secrets it might contain. “There is simply so much to do,” the little man says quietly, “so very, very much and so precious little time in which to do it. That is always the case it seems – one can simply never be caught up when there is so much to do and the little time one has is filled with the doing of many things that need to be done.” Reaching into the folds of his robe, he withdraws a handful of those tiny square napkins that are so wonderful for the writing down of thoughts that one simply must not forget to think, and as he reads these ancient posts he mutters quietly and takes notes.

Quote:
the last time we saw Plaxica:
He let go of the runestone and shakily stood up. He felt extremely tired but at the same time relieved, knowing he had managed to complete what the druid had told him. He looked around himself trying to see the effects of what he had done, and at the same time not trying to think of how easily the spirit had taken over control of him...
Plaxica 85/85

Plaxica tried to shake himself free of the feeling of nausea, which was slowly creeping over him. The smell of dragon's blood was still strong on the night air, and a fear was creeping over him also. Fear of what he might have to face when he went to help the druid and fear of what the spirit inside him wanted. He still felt weak if he thought about how easily it could control him. If it wanted to achieve something for itself then Plaxica was not sure whether he could stop it.

But he had no time to lose. He had to help Tao. Something in him knew that her struggle was an important one. He took the now empty pouch of herbs she had given him and stowed it away in one of his pockets. He shifted to his owl form, and prepared to fly towards her.

And just where do you think you are going? - intruded the spirit's voice in the middle of his thoughts.

I have to help the druid.

That would endanger you too much. I can't let that happen.

Plaxica started to panic. What if the spirit took over again? How would Tao fare without him?

You have no say in this! - he thought, knowing that the spirit understood this means of communication.

So be it.

Plaxica braced himself for whatever the owl was going to do to him, but felt nothing happen in the next few seconds. Cautiously at first, then slowly getting braver he made towards where he felt the druid's presence. Little did he know that the presence he felt was but an illusion projected into his mind by the spirit, and that he was going in a completely different direction than the one he intended.

By daylight he was drawing close to the Tavern of the One-Eyed Wolf, but he did not know this.

For Marcos' Group

There were two constructs baring down on the four adventerous companions. Marcos had crashed the first one into a wall, though it had recovered easily...missing some of its armor however on the comeback. This one came charging the four again, but it "sidestepped" Marcos and hit Silt, who was standing there idle, watching Yevaud bladesinging against the second enemy in the rear of the party with Vincent using his bow to try and trip the floating mass of metal up...somehow. This exposed Silt's back to the oncoming jab of the animated sword, and dealt a tremendous amount of damage.

Silt fell to the ground like a stone.

On the other side, Yevaud was trying to carve up his enemy, and Vincent was trying to help, though he had not noticed that the magical armor that was attacking them was actually floating a few inches from the ground. He swung his bow at the legs of the armor...which resulted in the bow splintering and breaking.

OOC>>>Silt has taken extensive damage. 43hp in the initial attack, but his life is deteriorating at an unnatural rate. A faint green glow seems to be as an aura over his body.

For Kynnen

Kynnen listened to the whinings of the skeletal remains of a hero from long ago, quite bored with it all. It would have been to the death of any other creature in the dark caverns to have stood there listening to this dead body speak, but Kynnen was a drow...and the drow's senses told him that something had just come into the cavern behind him.

Larry Silverfall 23/23

...into the darkness...

Larry stood there for a moment, wondering where he was. This was not the Shadow Tower. It was daylight here, in a town of some sort. Where was...

"She fainted a few minutes after we met up with Chani." He watched Mistral on the couch.

"Aaarrrhhhh!"

Larry grabbed at his face and closed his eyes behind his white-knuckled hands. The burning sensation in his head and eyes were too much to bare. He fell to his knees, thinking he was under attack by the Mage's power of shadow over his mind.

"Morgeruat!!!!" He screamed.

OOC>>>Note...Upon entering the tower, the interior is dark, almost to the absense of light...but there is a faintly dark gray aura to the place. Its not enough to see but a few feet in front of you. Beyond that will be nothing but shadows upon shadows upon shadows. It is not the darkness of the Underforums, however.

Inquisitor Marcos of Snowdale - 98/98

Were it not a construct, wrested from the world's magic to slay what it saw as intruders, he would have named it craven and dishonourable to so readily dismiss a greater threat to strike at others more vulnerable and ill prepared. Its efficiency in that regard was disgusting, and it showed beyond doubt that it was, truely, crafted to slay rather than to do battle.
But while its creator may have lacked in virtue, the inquisitor also understood that he was already faltering. If he was going to pass this test of the gods as he knew he must, he could not afford these slip-ups. Not at this at this early stage, nor later on.
It may have been the elf's own choice to accompany him and fight here, but that did not lessen his responsibility. Did not excuse letting the horror sidestep his protection.

The first thing to do now, then, would be to get the creature away before it did more harm. Remembering the effect of his first blow, he rushed forwards to repeat the procedure.

For Marcos's Party

Vincent and Yevaud are busy with the second floating, lifeless construct. Since Silt is down, and dying rapidly with a strange glow of green emenating about him, that leaves Marcos to the first horror. That was not a problem. His weapon was choice in such a battle as this, and as he slammed into the armor floating in the air a few inches from the ground, the construct bust apart as two main parts of its persona flew backwards from the force of the blow, banging up once again on the walls at the rear and leaving chunks of broken metal strung about. The armor crashed to the floor, still holding the force that kept it animated but too bent up to move effectively at this time.

OOC>>>Marcos had twisted the metal monster up too badly for it to recover this round. It still has life, and is trying to return to the fight as any machine would be programmed to do.

Yevaud was not faring quite as well with swords that were made for cutting flesh, but his persistance and his agility kept him both unharmed and adding little niches here and there in the armor's construction. Vincent had failed in his attempt to injure the metallic floating monster.

Yevaud 45/45

Yevaud began to ease into a combat routine, decades spent in the practise yard were overcoming his fatigue as he'd been trained, and he pushed himself dropping out of his wholly defensive display and began to add in a riposte here, a thrust there, and a thrust at the armor where it seemed the creature had substance since he'd seen how ineffective Vincent's attack was he concluded that the armor itself was enchanted into the guardian before him.
