Anyhoo, I agree with the general trend here. I have friends where I live and online friends. They are all dear to me and I make time for them all. I choose whom to spend time with based on what I feel like doing at the time. Or if a particular friend needs me at to be there for them (whether in my hometown or online). I don't get to spend as much time with everyone as I would like, but I try. And I don't particularly care for the term 'real-life' friends versus 'online friends'...I mean, if I was chatting online with a friend who moved away, I wouldn't consider them any different than those I've only met online. That term 'real-life' makes me feel like people I talk to online can't be real people. And I know that they are.

Okay, here are my thoughts on this subject. I usually don't call the people I chat with online "friends". For me, friendship is something that develops over time. There are various levels of trust and companionship that grow within friendship. I cannot, in good faith, call anyone here a friend. It's my definition of friendship that is much different than many of yours. I do have plenty of online acquantaintances that I am friendly with but to truly be my friend, it would take years and plenty of patience. It's not easy being my friend. If you sat down with my best friend from 8th grade, then he would attest to the last point. Thus, I don't have many friends. Since I doubt if anyone actually read this, let me close by talking about my socks. I know someone stole them and I'm searching every nook and crannie until I find them. They have an Eagles symbol on the top and smell like kitty litter. It would save each of you a world of heartache if you returned my socks (washed please)

Oh and I totally agree. FRIENDS ARE FRIENDS no matter what.
but that escapes the debate!

Sorry, but I already sold them to a wandering exorcist who was out of practice and looking for something small and evil. He said he'd be back for you in a few weeks.

I think it also depends. People change and if you don't spend enough time with them, one day you'll take another look at them and realise you actually don't know your "friend" at all...

I know for sure that "friends" that bad mouth you or make vitriolic comments about you after a misunderstanding aren't real friends. Either that or they're just in a seriously bad mood. But if after a while they're still mistreating you then it's not just a mood and maybe you ought to think about moving on...

I've been lucky and it's always been a bad mood. I hope my luck holds out *beaming*

Hmmmmm.. LOL.. Alright.. will talk about this later Eternity. Sorry I didn't see this post earlier, as we were online together and the browser didn't update me.

Well I totally see what you were on about.
Anyway, I have to agree with you most of the way, but I hope it's not true. But *hugs* you are always my friend.
