I could see why it doesn't exist, as it might promote software piracy, and the only reason I want it is so I can play my favorite music CD's while I'm playing and don't want the IWD 2 CD to just sit there in my CD drive.

Thanks,
Mike
This is a VERY touchy subject here, Mike. Irrespective of the reason you need this No CD crack (unfortunately most people want it because they downloaded the game off a warez site and these people kind of outweigh the *legit* people such as yourself) I don't particularly want links to sites of that nature being posted here for any reason (sorry Larry, don't mean to overrule you ) since that has the potential to open up a whole can of worms. Discussion is one thing, and we're doing that. Links is a totally different thing. We just need to cover ourselves, I hope you can all understand that.

However, there's nothing stopping Paladin2000 and yourself corresponding outside Ironworks (eg email) if you can satisfy Paladin2000 that your intentions are good (I'm sure they are), I'm sure he will help you out (he seems like a nice guy).

Hope this helps you.

IMHO, there is a difference between a "no-CD crack" and a "cracked CD". In the first case, it is a method of playing an already purchased game directly from the hard drive of the purchaser's machine. I really don't think this is an issue that people with current CD drives worry about too much as the load speeds from CD are pretty good these days. I have heard the arguement made that a no-CD setup can allow for faster load times on older machines, but I've never tried so I cannot comment. However, it's a short step from copying onto your own HD to copying to someone else's so this sort of behaviour is a grey area at best.

Cracked CD's on the other hand are an example of software piracy. Promote or give links to "warez" sites and your stay here is likely to be extremely short.

i haven't tried on IWD, but I know on some software, once the game boots up and has initiated (IE done all the security checks blah blah blah....), it doesn't require the disc to be inside.

So let the game boot and all that. Once everything is running, pop the tray and replay it with your favourite music CD.....

AS for uploading the disc to your HD, .... i did that with BG1 cos changing discs everytime you moved areas was a REAL PAIN!

I know of a no-cd patch for the first (original) version of the game, but I wouldn't want to play the game without the bug-fixin' patch. So if you want a link, PM me.
