Well, given what Nym says about himself, plus Malavon's comments later, I have no doubts he could easily talk his way around the twins. Neither of them appeared especially bright to me.

IIRC Nym was in the first IWD too wasn't he? The merchant in Dorn's Deep? *scratches head* He reminds me of that pirate guy in BG2 and ToB who helps you but betrays you. Although you did get to kill him in the end

I didn't mind Saemon - in fact I loved it in BG2 where in mid-sentence he suddenly shouts "GET HIM *PC name here*"! But Nym is utterly irredeemable - having ruined the kingdoms of both Dorn's Deep and the Severed Hand. Death is too kind.
