It's a question of etiquette and common sense. Personally I prefer a short phrase or quote rather that lines of meaningless waffle. As a rule of thumb, if the length of your sig text regularly exceeds your messages then it's time to think about shortening your sig or lengthening your posts (no spamming though ).

Just remember - sometimes less really is more.

I couldn't agree with you more Vaskez, a while back wasn't there an option to disable your sig by default and then it would only show up when you specifically told it to... I think that would be a great help and very simple to tell newbies or anyone who didn't catch it right away, I know myself and I often forget to turn off my sig, and it irritates me when I'm doing a short reply or a quick answer on somones question.

I'd say rather than make it a rule, make it a request. I say this not because I'm against the practice, but more because I wouldn't want to get in trouble because I had forgotten to uncheck the show sig box.

Yeah, yeah... I'm sorry, I felt I had to say it. I'll shut up now.

My understanding of it was that he was banned after this, to stop him coming back. At least, thats why I thought he had the "Banned Troll" avatar for a while.

Anyway, I promised to not harp on about this. We're dragging this thread off topic.

And that is what Vaskez intended with his suggestion I believe. Even thuogh he was a bit grouchy about it.

If you feel the need to display our sig all the time, well then do so.

Might be Saz's site is having a burp or something, Groj. (grins at Mel) It does that now and then. If I'm still showing as a trendy box with an x today I'll ask him about it.

Thanks Melusine, your post about calming down was a good one. I like seeing and using sigs alot, but I can also stop and think about what it is Vaskez is saying and I respect that he finds it a problem. We can all do that- no matter what our final opinion happens to be!
Yeah exactly. I mean ....not grouchy!! But that's what I meant!
A rule of etiquette!

I think someone mentioned the perfect solution: if Ziroc could make the Show Signature box UNTICKED by default and people showed a little sense then everything would be perfect <- I rarely use this smiley cos it detracts from my tough exterior
