Pardon me if this has been talked about before, but has anyone considered the idea? I know, it runs contrary to the roleplaying ideal many may have for the Forgotten Realms setting, but if you're looking for an interesting build to rp, or an uber mage-killer, the idea isn't that bad. For roleplay, both Drow and paladins have some interesting dialogue options, which can combine into a very frustrated or noble character striving against the discrimination normally heaped unto his/her race (ala: Drizzt). And for general game purposes, consider: Drow have a bonus to Int, Cha, and Dex I believe. That would normally make them a very wizardly or rogueish character without any other consideration, but since the Paladin is such a difficult class to assign stats for, the extra 4 points from Int and Dex make the process quite a bit easier. Also consider that a fighter-type like the Paladin really doesn't get or use many class skills. Rogue and Bards are much better for that. So the extra Charisma helps as you've essentially have a very very persuasive character. Lastly, has anyone considered the great resistance abilities of a Drow's Spell Resistance, combined with the saving throw bonuses from a Paladin's Wisdom, and the Holy Avenger one can acquire later in the game? Admittedly, it is later on in the game, but who can argue with a SR of over 30 naturally combined with the fantastic saving throws of the paladin class, and the unlimited Dispel capacity of the blade? Add some well-considered feats, and you've got a great well-rounded paladin (possibly with some fighter levels or wizard levels, if you choose either Helm or Mystra paladins, which only increase the versatility) and an excellent anti-mage force.

You're the first I have heard of to attempt that! What a cool idea! 3rd edition can be prety fun sometimes. It takes away some of the monotony of everyday D&D life, and says.."hey! What if..."...
Welcome to Ironworks. Your new home away from the real world. Or maybe this is the real world. I forget.

I played a drow paladin in my earlier game... but I just got bored of the game, so I stopped. I should pick up the game and start playing again ...
