Anomen Haerdalis

O.K Im playing SOA and I have a dilema. I dont know who to choose between Anomen and Haerdalis.

Now I know all the poros and cons for them in SOA and I still cant decide. So without spoiling the game for me who is the best in TOB.

Neither. Both. Really, it's all a matter of your playing style, rather than whether one character is "better" than another.

Just as long as you have a melee-tank, thief-type, cleric-something and mage-something in your party, you should have all the bases covered. Beyond that, it's up to what you want to do. The most important thing is to include characters you like, and enjoy playing with.

HEY! This shouldn't even be ASKED! Anomen is a worthless excuse for a cleric. He has poor fighting ability (only marginally better than a normal cleric as he dualed WAY too soon to be useful), has AWFUL wisdom (shouldn't even be allowed to dualclass... stupid) and has the WORST character personality in the game.

Haer Dalis is VERY powerful in tob, because of the number of beneficial bonuses he gets. Bardsong gets better with a HLA, and he can get USI. Trust me, Anomen is a joke in TOB.

Ordinarily, a Fighter->Cleric is one of the best classes there is, but Anomen made a lot of 'mistakes,' the most obvious of which are his low Wisdom and pathetic Dexterity. Also, he didn't take the Berserker kit, which would have dramatically increased his front-line power. Plus the fact that he's annoying and arrogant as all hell....really, the only reason to take Anomen is that there are some spells Jaheira can't cast, and Aerie was never meant to be a Tank.
Haer'Dalis, on the other hand, is pretty good (for a Bard): His only flaw is his 15 INT, but I've seen enough Potions of Genius or Mind Focusing out there to keep me happy. One per night is really all you need. Toriuxik is right about Improved Bardsong, it removes the only drawback to the Blade kit. Still, I dislike Haer'Dalis, but that's mainly because I don't feel right about any man who keeps referring to himself as a 'sparrow.'

P.S: My Tank is essentially Anomen on steroids: 15/18/18/9/18/15. He's using the Mauler's Arm for now (boosts STR to 18) until I can find a 2nd STR belt. Level 12 Berserker, and he's still only Level 8 as a Cleric (We just got to Spellhold), but he'll be out of the Dual soon. Most Powerful Vanquished: Kangaxx the Demi-Lich. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Anomen is only good from a powergamer's point of view, if you let him pass his test. Then he becomes a worthy Fighter/Cleric. He is not to be underestimated.

True, Dundee. I don't like him, myself, (see my sig) but he can be useful, as Sazerac always says. The worst is if you are a female gamer, and the creep hits on you. That's why I always take Viconia, and plat a male character. Annoying is his middle name.

LOL! I can't agree more... I had to restart as a male to undo the horrors... I seriously don't see uses for Anomen. I'd rather use Viconia as my cleric tank (she often sits with AC of -12 or so I think), and give her a belt or gloves and Runehammer... She seems to do quite well for herself. She also gets A TON more spells than dinkey anomen, and is better looking and has a better personality to boot.

Haer Dalis main use is as a secondary mage (in SoA at least) with more fighting. That, and as a user of all those otherwise useless barditems... I love him with Use Any Item and Improved Bard Song... And any of the hideously powerful traps. lol, he would kick anomen's arse so bad it ain't funny. His dexterity drainer would just make things REALLY ugly. Improved haste, Stoneskin and Tensers Transformation and you have one mighty Bardguy. Seriously, I would rather take a paladin out or a dwarf fighter/cleric then anomen... especially in ToB (multi is better than dual their anyway)

Anomen is a good fighter and cleric, and even better after he has passed the test. But he is SO irritating!
Haer'Dalis has good bard-abilities, a doable fighter, access to some mage-spells and is very funny.
Hmm, this can be tough...

I am going to go against the grain here and say Anomen. I think he is fun to have around simply because of he way everyone insults him non stop. Also, as Dundee says, he should not be underestimated after passing his knighthood test. When he has done that he becomes a much less annoying person and a very good spell caster. Basically he is a better fighter than Aerie or Viconia and he is the only person other than them who can get all the lovely high level cleric spells. Hmmmmmm..... Implosion... nice... pretty...
