(i only need one or two people to respond, although I appreciate all the responses so far....)

thanks guys, happy gaming.

No problem mate.

When you start a new game you're allowed to create a new character (well up to six really). If you click on a create character button, you'll see the beginnings of the whole creation process, but down on the right hand side you should see an "Import" button. Click on that and you'll be presented with a whole list of pre-made characters, plus any you have put in that character folder.

To do this, you'll have to have put your characters in there in the first place! So, enter the game you wish to save the characters from, and if you enter into each character's record, you'll see the "Export" button in the same place (instead of the "Import"). Click on that, and make sure you give them a memorable name so when you create your new game you can find each character quickly. Just click on the 'Create New Character', buttons for the new game as you require, either making up an entirely new character (though they start at level 1) or import your old ones.

Hope that makes sense, but once you do it the first time, you'll see how this works. Interestingly, you can go through an entirely new game starting with your old characters each time just to make sure you get to level n as depends on whether you have How/TotLM installed. The maximum level is 30 for each class with the addons.

Just remember when you export, that containers such as gem bags, potion boxes and scroll cases do NOT export with your character. So if there is anything you really want from them, make sure you take it out BEFORE you export.

In Severed Hand, the level that connects to the 4 towers has a 'merchant' elf guy.
