I love every Black Isle game that I have played. I've played them all except the Fallout series. I know it was good because everyone says so.

My question is, will it seem dull playing it now? Is the technology too old to be enjoyable after BG2, or will it hold up?

i don't really know the fallout series, but if it's an older game you could be a bit dissapointed with the graphics. But if the game has a good storyline and the gameplay is allright, you should go out and get it

hi, avindetha! i don`t think ive seen you before. anyway i have played Fallout 1. it really rocked! ive heard that Fallout 2 is much better and longer so i really wanna have it but i havent seen it in a store .
Let me tell you about the major diffirences:

1. Fallout doesn`t have any classes. the mainchar is a jack of all trades and can therefore do everykinds of diffirent stuff.
2. I don`t know if this is diffirent in Fallout 2 but it was in Fallout: The party is much diffirent. if you take party members, they dont steal your exp. and AFAIK(as far as i know) they don`t get stronger.
3. The game happens in the future, after a nuclear war or something. so that means: No swords, maces, axes etc.(they will be replaced by guns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, grenades and so on) and no magic( magic would be really kick ass in Fallout)
4. The stats and char development are much diffirent. you can have everykinds of diffirent stuff like perks, skills and stuff like that.
5. the thing that bothers me alot: most enemies are mutants and people, which means that there arent many big monsters like in the others.
the one black isle game i haven`t played yet is Icewind Dale.
if you want to taste the game without buying it, you can get the demo from http://www.interplay.com/fallout/demo.html though its just Fallouts demo, the creators didnt make a demo for the second part.

Fallout 2 holds its own very well against all the other RPGs out there. It has a ton of humour and great combat and quests. Also in 2 vou can control your NPCs giving them armour and weapons and they increase in skill along with you..gaining better accuracy with their weapons and more hit points. BTW you can order bothe games together directly from Interplay. I still play Fallout one to this day and still haven't tried out every character class the game/s have to offer! GET THEM BOTH!

Actually you can find Fallout and Fallout2 both in the same package at any K-Mart or Wal-Mart for $19.95. D'OH! I just saw that you aree in Aussie Land. Hopefully there is a large Retail outlet nearby to check at. I personally loved both games and am going to start Fallout2 again very soon. The games have very adult themes however. They deal with prostitution, drugs and violence. There is also alot of humor in them. Mutants, space aliens, evil gangs and robots populate the game world. The landscape is radiation blasted and desolate. In Fallout2 you can even become a porn star. You will love the names that you get to choose from for your "Stage Name". The opening credits are very cool to watch and they have some wonderful voice actors in the games...Micheal Dorn aka Worf from Star Trek Next Generation does a voice or two as does Richard Dean Anderson from MacGyver.

The things that I didn't like...hmmmm...landscapes are all the same very little variation. Other than that the game is alot of fun. I have played these games through several times each.

Fallout series is great and well worth the money, the character developement system is a lot more indepth I wasn't as keen on Fallout 2 though but its still good.

One of the best things about the game are the easter eggs the games are filled with, things like visiting the bridge at the end of monty pythons holy grail. The most dull aspect of the game is its turn based combat system, but after a day playing it, it begins to grow on you.

Alright, I'm convinced. I'll try to find them and play them while I'm waiting for IWD2.
