No matter how fast my characters fight through, they can't manage to kill the ogres before they smash the supports. Is there a way to stop them sooner do they tear up the bridge no matter what?

When you get on the map, run to the bridge WITHOUT stoping. Don't even stop to talk with the mage who start dialog with you. Tell her the last option (It was somethng like "I don't have time to talk" or "the time for talking is over").
Then attack the Ogres without caring about anyting else.

I concur with Luvian. You'll have plenty of time to deal with the rest of those chimera scumbags later. Go straight for the throat (ie: the ogre demolition team).

You should be able to put the pointer over the support beams during the fight (you can pause it first to stop the clock) to get an idea of how badly damaged they are. They should get wound status like anything else, that would give you a good idea of how much time is left. I would have at least a character or two work on the mage when you reach the bridge to disrupt her spells.
I pretty much fight in a straight line to the bridge, I do kill anything in my way, and then take out the ogres. Then I'll go back and clean up afterwards. Have never had the supports broken yet.

If you walk your party in a single file line along the far right of the screen you'll encounter very few enemies, allowing you to get to the bridge before the demo team really has a chance to start.

I just run in straight line from the starting point to the bridge, kill the ogres, and then take care of everything that followed me.
That was a truly epic fight when I did it with my solo Barbarian/thief on normal difficulty. I got away with about 5 health. I could probably have rested, but I am a roleplayer.

You get 1575 on the spot for saving the bridge. Note that you *must* wipe out every enemy on the map as well. Otherwise, they'll just wait until you leave and destroy the bridge when you're gone.
One thing you can try is making a couple of your tanks invisible and running them up to the bridge. They can take out Xuki and then work on the ogres. The rest of the party can deal with the welcoming committee and join up with the bridge team afterwards. If you have Invis Sphere, you can make the whole group invis (do this before entering the bridge map) and get everyone up there. |

I just moved forward 'slowly' killing the enemies as they appeared - and both times I have tried it, I managed to kill the ogres before they destroyed the bridge.

I had to cheat a little (turned the game setting down to very easy) to get to and kill the ogres before they could destroy the bridge supports. Then I switched it back to normal to kill the rest of the monsters.
Thanks for letting me know that bridge could be saved, or I would have been stuck. |
