I can guarantee that some men make good use of the argument recycling ploy too. Scenario with me and my bf: I just think that the latest trivial disagreement is over when BAM, he brings up something trivial that I may have said or done 10 years previous and I can't even remember, it was so long ago. And I relive things that I can't remember ever doing over and over...
It is one thing about him that really p*sses me off, as my own tendency is to forgive and forget - so I have sympathy with anyone else who is on the receiving end of this sort of behaviour, whatever their gender!
