kinda, J'rome...I thought the river could symbolize your life, with turnings and divides, ya know, is that what you meant?

I saw the "river in your backyard" to be symbolic for a persons childhood (ie, the *back*yard being behind them and so forth...) and the "Sea" being adult life..... the twists and turns all being part of the rugged course we stuggle against to reach adulthood.

Thats how *I* perceived it, and i have to say that it's a very wise and insightful piece of writing WELL DONE!

Can I be an absolute bloody harridan and ask you not to make lots of back and forth posts on this thread. I really love to read other peoples work here, and to share serious and helpful comments. Some of these poems are deeply personal and not that easy to share, so if the thread gets clogged up with spam and jokes it strikes me as just a bit ... ummmm ... not nice?????

Gridlock - your poem was very impressive, and rather moving. I love the images you call up - the language of the trees. It is a very sensual poem in that it conjures many physical as well as emotional sensations. If it was mine - I would have called it "I wonder" as the whole poem is about the sense of wonder that sometimes washes over us.

Djinn - i am intrigued. Message me on MH with the story behind that pretty please.

Nothing new from me - life has just been a bit too raw to even think about putting it dwon on paper

Wow all these poems are inspiring.

Mind If I right a couple of lines? I have about 30 or so songs written...but much to violent to post here.

Dawn to Dusk:

All the world too see, all the people to meet. I dont want it, but I dont want this either.

Confuesion, always losing, fighting a battle I cant win.

Dont ask me how to win the world over, dont ask me how to find a four leaf clover. I dont know.

Another one is gone, another one is here, people are so happy, and people are full of fear.

That was just a couple of verses from one of my songs I left alot out though

Simple GR, and iit is striking... but it will not strike me as well as it should if you say this is a song. I should hear it someday

I was about to do that kiwi, thanx for taking it to your own hands...

Gridlock is a good poet, and she's my friend!

Trying to make an impromptu here...

PAPERCUT

Paper can cut
And when it does
It hurts like a cutter
Splitting your skin open

The swiftness and the sharpness
Of the paper's side
And the pain it provides
For all concerned

You ache
But there is nothing to show it
You bleed
And blood doesn't show itself

The skin, open
Air attacks the the space- small and clean
Making you feel
Uneasy and unreal

For the wound, cut open, doesn't bleed.
