I am on lvl 2 of dungeon, second room. I can't get characters to destroy the colored cages (portals) or open the locked doors on the opposite wall. Thanks for any help.

Good way is to lure the imps away from the portals with a few npcs, and with the rest just BASH 'EM PORTALS!!!! -evil laugh- There is a key to the doors, somewhere, just take everything you find, and all will be ok. |

That would be great if it worked. My cursor won't click on the portals. It's like they are a non object.

You're supposed to attack the mephits inside the cages, in case you didn't know.

So none of them have the red circle under (well, its actually more like in) them?
Are you sure you didnt kill them already? EDIT: Them == Cages (or portals if you prefer) [ 11-25-2002, 02:41 PM: Message edited by: Seraph ] |

If you still have problems targetting the Mephit Portals, go to your Game Options feedback and maximise the marker feedback.

You should be able to kill the mephits inside the "cages". If you aren't sure whether you target the right location, then save the game, cheat in an invisibility scroll or a potion and send an explorer to check what should be targeted. The potion is POTN10, the scrolls are SCRL1J or SCRL1Y. Then restart the game. If your explorer cannot find anything to target then something is really wrong with your game. Check the bug reports and patches, visit Baldurdash, or reinstall. I am playing an unpatched game and I've never had problems with the cages.
The cages are the key to this part of the dungeon. Ignore the mephits around and kill the mephits inside the cages as fast as possible. Then deal with the rest of the mephits. Otherwise, the cages will produce new mephits infinitely. Fighting them without putting the cages out of work is futile. AFAIK, there is no key to the door leading out of the room with cages in the game. The "key" is killing the portals. The door unlocks after killing them.
