I have done the quests that are required to gain control of the guild. Which event gave me the 5 point rep drop? I didn't notice it till I had gone on to rescue Haer'Dalis.

It could be anything - did you murder anyone at all? That's usually a sure way to loose rep.

Or, when Edwin tells you to go get his documents form a merchant named Marcus, you should talk to him, and if you are a thief, you can snap his neck. If not, you can force him to give you them. And a rep drop could be because you just killed him. And he is flagged as an "innocent". So killing him would be like killing a commoner.

IIRC there is no rep drop for snapping Marcus neck.

U probably used an area affect spell when killing maer'var, which could of killed the old man in the cage(happened to me before). Since hes an innocent u lose some rep.

I think snapping his neck is either a Str or Dex thing, not being a thief. I remember that I got the option to snap his neck for the first time quite recently, and I wasn't playing a thief. And I incurred no rep loss.
The old man in the cage, however, is an easy mistake to make in the heat of the moment. That could be it.

Well, I didn't kill Marcus. I bought the documents that Edwin wanted. I killed Mae'Var and his cohorts by starting out with a cloudkill or a deathfog, don't remember which. I cast the cloud spell from the BACK of the room(the door from the docks), so when the battle was over the old man was still alive,,and I freed him. Oh well, I'm gradually making the party over to a neutral or evil group, so rep won't matter too much.

Oh. Ok, but i didnt mean that the snapping the neck was a rep loss, just killing him outright, without talking.
