I don't know if it's merely a rumor or what, but I read in this months GMR magazine (a gaming magazine I tend to disdane for it's shameless bias, and 5th grade reading level) that Squenix is making a direct sequal to FFVII as well. This may just be a joke on their part, knowing their level of maturity I wouldn't be surprised. Can anyone confirm this either way?

It might just be a movie. I believe I've heard that it's more than likely JUST going to be a movie.

Creating a direct sequel to one of the greatest RPG's ever, would be a huge burden for Square-Enix. Not only would they have to create a whole new graphics engine, but they would also have to create a truely captivating and original story to please their FFVII fans.

It's a rumour which has been circulating the net for months, and so far, there has been no official confirmation. We can always hope.

Cloud, you seem rather certain about that. Do you have relatives that are working on the project? All the sources I've read say they are sure which it will be. DVD format doesn't mean it will be a movie. There are DVD format games on the PS2. Anyways the only source I've read so far that has a concrete view on this is GMR saying that it will be a game.
