Question Mark

This should not surprise anyone. Did you really expect him to stay and fight to the bitter end?

He will stay in Tikrit only long enough to gather a reasonable amount of easily transportable and highly liquid assets; with these he will pay nearly any amount for diplomatic asylum. I don't think anyone would be so unwise as to host him, though....

Honestly, I thought he would have been gone a couple of days prior to the first bomb dropping. Expect him to stay, HA, he has too much invested in himself to lose himself.

The American media still seems to think they can flush him out of Baghdad though. I'd laugh, but I am an American.

I thought he would be in Syria by now but you're right, whoever takes him in will have to be extremely foolish or simply strong enough to keep him without repercussions from the US, the UK or the UN.

Of course, he can afford to just disappear too.

I think he'll fight it out in Tikrit where his family are and 2 divs of his most loyal guard.

Boy was he stupid! He should have taken his money, family and friends and ran when he got the offer for exile. It doesn't matter where he goes now. He's either going to be dead or in prison for the rest of his life. He maybe in Tikrit with two divisions or whatever, but that doesn't mean a hill of beans. The coalition will still take him down, unless his own people get to him first.

Don't you all think it's odd that nothing has been heard about Tikrit? I can't even remember of any bombings there or anything.

How did "the Hindu" find out about this? What a world scoop. Who's the lucky journalist? Wow. Doppelgangers, charades, doubles, deception! What drama. Better than fiction isn't it.... Er, it is a journalist and not a novelist reporting right?

AH. Silly me. It's all from the mouth of a "former aide." Well that's a reliable source. It's not like he would have been paid for the story or anything is it? Selling papers isn't a goal right? No money in that?

If Saddam and his top aids do get away to another country wouldn't we or the U.N. have him arrested for war crimes? Of course thatafter we get the rest of the WMD which I believe we're finding now. And why wasn't he simply arrested for the murders of the Kurds well before the war was started? That may have been a better solution than war..

You can only arrest people for war crimes if the country he is in decides to do so and deports him to the Hague. For example say there was a certain war criminal in Canada. If the Canadian government did not wish to have him arrested than the criminal is quite safe as long as he stays in the Canada. If that person decides to travel outside his safe country he could likely be arrested. Of course I have know idea why countries would wish to protect such people even if they are citizens of that country.
