drizzit is an unstoppable drow elf as we all know.

Let's face it. The finest warrior or mage cannot beat him fairly. I've tried to kill him 3 times and only wounded him once with my well built fighter

some people claim to have killed him.

Please tell me how this can be done lol.

Also, can anybody tell me where Volo is in BGI?

The only way he can be killed is by abusing the game engine / poor AI. There is no way of killing him that even remotely resembles anything that can be put into a fanfiction.

An example of how that couldn't be done:

Quote:
"And lo, in the meadow to the west we came upon a horde of Gnolls, setting upon a lone Drow warrior all at once. He carved into them seemingly without effort, recieving never a scratch from their Halberds. His twin blades flashed here, now there, and I saw that this would be a combatant truly worthy of my skill. When he had finished off the last of the Gnolls, I challenged him to a duel, in the interests of my Lord Tempus, God of Battles.
I desired fair combat, so I bid my four compansions stand very close to the Drow before temporarily leaving the party--the four of them were do curious about this strange warrior that they hemmed him in completely, with no room to move between them. I then attacked, and the Drow's counterstroke was horrific, and I quickly backed away....but then I realized that my Staff gave me the longer reach, so I continued swinging, only managing an actual hit every five minutes or so.
All this time, the Drow struggled in vain to find a space between my companions large enough to squeeze out of, so that he could get me within Scimitar range. Failing that, he attempted to shove them aside, but their feet adhered to the earth as the very mountains. The only alternative was to attack them, but as they were techically noncombatants, he declined to raise his blades against an innocent. Meanwhile, the steady, regular strokes of my Staff continued apace, and the Drow eventually fell, sometime in the late afternoon.
Such a bold, noble, courageous victory! Tempus must be highly impressed with my skill of arms. All Praise!
.....yeah.

About a year ago, some guy with only a few dozen posts to his name claimed to have beaten Drizzt in a fair fight, without any cheesy abuses at all, with a Level 1/2 party. That is the only time I have flat-out called someone a liar on Ironworks.

Well, that was rightly said Six! I have tried Dizzt with a fully stocked up, strong (and legitimate) party, and still he thwarts me!

thanks sixofspades

is he killable in BG2? I can't remember now. The powerful weapons in BG2 do allow you to become very powerful... more so than drizzt?

Question Mark

Why bother comparing yourself to Drizzt? That would be like asking if someone could be smarter than Sherlock Holmes--since they are literary characters, they are not bound by the same laws of reality that limit us.

Bottom line, in BG1 unless you abuse the game engine or create you own special items, Drizzt is unkillable--his "off-hand" attack is a special ability that always deals 30 points of damage and never misses, so in 2 or 3 hits you're dead.

his items would make him worth killing in BG1 but as is correctly mentioned it's almost impossible without a bit of cheese.
Here's how I did it with my lawful evil monk (BGT mod) and how it could be done with a rogue or a ranger (vanilla BG1).
It is a rather cheesy way but there is a justifieable explanation for Drizzt's behaviour in that so you could do it with only a minor guilt trip
code:
WHILE drizzt=alive DO
BEGIN
Hide in Shadows;
Backstab; {mainly for the THAC0 bonus}
flee out of sight;
END
[/QUOTE]You'll need some speed-enhancing item/potion to outrun him and it'll take some time, but you get some nice equipment and the pleasure to have beaten assasinated the mighty Drow
Although I won't contend that this tactic stinks of Appenzeller I could try to explain
PC - backstab
Drizzt - "Why you little..." "Come back here"
PC - runs and hides
Drizzt - "I'll get you next time"
...

I've heard that you can beat him if you keep him distracted long enough with a wand of monster summoning and a lot of arrows of biting.

I always play goody two shoes, so I don't attack him. I only pick his pocket for a scimitar +3. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

i wasted a whole quiver on drizzt and non got through. I had some frost arrows but only 1/20 actually hit him...

faceman, you must have reloaded many times to have accomplished that because drizzt's armour class is so low even a backstab will miss more often than not.

not to be skeptical... but i'd like to see a screen shot of you standing around his corpse [img]smile.gif[/img]

I have killed him before twice. I won't go into detail, as I made threads about it. But one of those times was with bgt, which I'm fairly sure would have affected things in some way.
