Geas makes the user complete a quest for the caster. I believe the "victim" is not consciously aware of the Geas.
s p o i l e r Also, I didn't have him in my party at the time I invaded the Hold. He wasn't there to betray me, so no Heart to return. Moral of the story is make sure you take him with you.

quote: Yoshimo had an extremely powerful Geas, which can be like a curse, put upon him by Irenicus. With this curse, if Yoshimo disobeys Irenicus, he dies an extremely horrible death. Considering how Yoshimo once mentioned honor of some sort, he'd rather betray you and die honorably by your hands, because at least he would die by the hands of a friend. DOUBLE S P O I L E R Ilmater is the god someone else refers too. Also, you can just leave Yoshimo in Athkatla if you don't want to kill him. The Second Spoiler T O B O H F H N R A L O A Y N L E Also, you need not kill Yoshimo. In fact, the simple solution to letting Yoshimo live, AND having him in TOB (at least I presume, I'm going to try this with my Swashbuckler. I mean the TOB part.) is to not bring him with you after Chapter 3. Just leave him at the Copper Coronet for the rest of the game, then when you go to TOB, try to summon him. Hopefully, someone else will try this before I do. Besides, there's always Jan, Nalia, or Imoen. (I want to see what happens to Yoshimo in TOB)

Even if you never talk to Yoshi and leave him awaiting you at the Copper Coronet he will die the moment you re-enter CC after your return from spellhold so this doesn't work either.
There is absolutely no way to keep Yoshimo for ToB. You CAN keep him throughout SoA however if you turn him to stone before going to Spellhold and unstone him once you return. Never tried this myself though.Only read it somewhere.

No, there is no way to "preserve" Yoshimo.
Another good character wasted. Thanks Black Isle. ;_;

quote: You can't summon him in ToB. IIRC his name does show up in the list of summonable NPCs, but he himself won't come if you select him, for the obvious reason that he's dead. |

yoshi's name does come up on tyhe list of summonable npc's but it just said he's dead. Thats waht happened to me. Yoshimo is so annoying though on my first game i didn't know about the geas thing and thought he was brilliant. I then got to spellhold and the bastard betrayed me. it hurt. lol

quote: Wait, what if you don't ever pick him up again? Any non-legit ways? Lol! PS: In Shadowkeeper, there's a geas removal scroll, however I don't know if it works or not...I just have seen it in the Item Browser. [ 03-12-2002: Message edited by: Jerr Conner ]

You can keep Yoshimo until the end of the game if you want....I've done it. You mustn't take him to Brynlaw. Leave him in the CC. When you return, before entering the C.C cast haste or wear boots of speed, enter the C.C and talk to Yoshimo. He will join your party and then die. Ressurect him and he's yours forever.

WarMachine,
Copy your save from Save folder to mpsave folder then Pre-generate a character and load the multiplayer game and import that character. Run in multiplayer for a second and save the game. Copy this save from mpsave to save and then you are good to go.
