So, most of you are probably using Firefox by now...
Any takers on Google Chrome? I decided to finally install it yesterday after giving it about a month to ensure it is *safe*...and I have to admit that I'm impressed. It is a LOT faster on my dual-core machine than firefox 3 is, though I haven't really tried it out versus Internet Explorer.
Still, I think some adjustment could be made. It's nice to be able to middle-click a bookmark folder and open them all...but with chrome I have to right-click, then select the open all option....so, it's half the speed I'm used to. That is more than made up for when I'm loading eight web-pages all at once, though...they scream along, relative to firefox.

Re: So, most of you are probably using Firefox by now...
I've been using Chrome since the day it got out. Love it. Although I'm missing my plugins and addons in firefox, chrome does alot of things faster (like starting up)..
Its like, if i'm doing something and I wanna quickly check something I'll open up chrome (because its fast) but if I'm blogging or uploading pics, or movies or whatnot I'll use Firefox, because its a more full program (think photoshop etc). But with the new updates for chrome while will see some plugins and addons, I may lean more towards chrome..we shall see

What's the advantage of making a browser? Is it advertising? That's the only reason I could see.

I also prefer FF2 to FF3. Some of my favorite add-ons (like Menu Editor) don't yet work in FF3.
Haven't tried out Chrome yet, but I might. It's got to give me a good reason to change, though... be better than what I'm currently using. I won't switch just to switch, or to be cool or something like that.

Funny, I thought you meant Final Fantasy for a second there! Of which I like 2 better.
I think I like FFox 2 better as well. I have not switched back yet though..

Re: So, most of you are probably using Firefox by now...
Firefox 2 was certainly faster than 3...and I never had firefox 2 crash in the way that 3 has multiple times for me...
That said, I can tell that Chrome has better memory management than Firefox, thanks to its one-tab, one-process policy...which may be the most ingenious that I've heard of in a while, with respect to browsers. I'm actually surprised other programs don't do that...like, Photoshop, for instance...last I heard, while CS3 was somewhat multi-threaded, it was still one process, and as such, when you close one picture, you inherently get a slightly bigger memory leak than if the OS closed a thread... Well...that's my understanding of it, anyway. ...of course, the downside is that we all have to learn how to "kill process tree" in the task manager.

Re: So, most of you are probably using Firefox by now...
I don't like the suggestion feature of Firefox 3. So far I used to type m, go down a line and get to gmail. (mail.google.com) This still works. Say I also go to some website starting with g (giantitp.com maybe) I used to type g, go down a line and get there. Now I get to gmail since mail.google.com also contains a g...
I do use Firefox 3 at work, since it is what we have (and IE of course, since quite a few applications we use require it)...so I can compare pretty well. As for Chrome, I've also tried it. Had major problems with the middle mouse button sometimes working, sometimes not... Didn't like it much overall either...guess I'm too used to Firefox by now and notice all the small differences.
