The Ease-of-Use collector's edition component sets the global variable IWD2_BONUS_PACK in every game, and some parts of the game use that to determine what happens. For example, the Drow in the wandering village gives you one store (which contains his normal items) if it is not set and another store (which contains his normal items plus the avarine decanteR) if it is. In addition, it sets the 60SHORTCUT variable so that the elemental is always there and obvious.

As best as I can determine, Nym is the only one who pays attention to the BONUS_PACK variable, so I'm surprised to hear that the Gallaway Trading Post does anything.

Hypothesis: you installed the "get some HoF items in normal mode" component. That will cause the GTP (and other stores) to stock "more powerful" items. In particular, they stock the HoF counterparts of normal-mode items.
