Russian Georgian War
I cannot believe Russia are escalating the situation and invading Georgia the way the are. This is terrible.

Re: Russian Georgian War
It is a rediculous/ horrible situation. Meanwhile the rest of the world is telling Russia, "stop that, back off." And Russia's sitting there saying, "What're you gonna do? Sanction me?"
All this, I might add, in the middle of the Olympics, which I was under the impression were meant to promote peace between nations.

Re: Russian Georgian War
Destabilise Georgia to keep it out of NATO and scare any other former Warsaw Pact country or former Soviet republic from trying to become a member.

Re: Russian Georgian War
Agreed but isn't it funny how many troops the Soviets had at the ready so that as soon as Georgia attacked South Ossetia they were able to mount a counter offensive right away. Sort of like they were waiting for an excuse to invade.

Re: Russian Georgian War
They've probably had military bases in the area for years...
Doesn't look too good for Georgia though: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7555359.stm |
