For both my PC and my Hifi(s).

I love music. Over the last week or so, all my speakers have started packing up. I now have horrid distorted sounds even at low volumes on both my sitting-room hifi (an aged but good Technics system, about 150W output) and on my PC (Altec Lansing with sub-woofer). BTW I turn them up loud so I can hear music in other rooms or on my balcony, not so that I can go prematurely deaf! I also like them loud when I have parties.

Can anyone recommend some good replacement speakers that aren't going to wuss out on me?

I once went into a store to ask if those little Bose wireless speakers were any good, and was told 'well it depends what you want to use them for' which didn't inspire me with confidence.

They need to be able to withstand use at parties, playing Soul with a good thumping beat. Oh and I don't have much money either, so they need to be good value!

I'm running a set of Klipsch Promedia 4.1's. These things are incredible! 400W total power, but they cost $600CDN. You want loud! These will wake the neighbors!

I use a set of Altec Lansing. Love them. Comes with a wooffer and five little speakers, I swear they are only five inches tall or so, but really has quality sound, clear, loud, the woofer adds the base quite well (floor vibrating if you wish), all speaker controls are adjustable, good surround sound effect.
