From a metre behind, in the penalty area, ball out in front, both hands in the back, push over the striker, not even a remote attempt at making contact with the ball - why no whistle?????

ROFL. my post was more or less sarcastic self-pity, because last year, in the semi-finals of the European Championships, the Netherlands lost because they missed 5 out of 6 or 7 of the penalties they had to take in that match, against a very weak Italy. Since that day, getting a penalty in our favour isn't a reward anymore for us Dutchies, but more a sarcastic punishment, something we get nightmares from, waking up in the middle of the night wondering how the HECK something THAT silly could ever have happened. And the fact that the Netherlands was the co-host of those Championships didn't really help either...

OK, tell the truth now...who beat you? Must've been a power team. Was it Germany? No? Hmm. Maybe it was Spain. No? Erm...Italy? Damn, wrong again! Running out of power teams here. Er...France? Wait, they don't play any qualifiers since they're the holders. I give up! Who was it who knocked you out?

IRELAND??!!?!?!??!!
