Welcome to the Ironworks, Euronymous!!

Mozart was great. Zauber Flute is great. (But I like Rossini and Verid operas more). Unfortunatelly I bought once two Mozart operas in extra edition with small book with Libretto - I could roll on the floor reading it - texts were so stupid! Then they are singing generally I listen music, and even if I try I cant understand sentences or plot. In Opera I got small book with plot: X killed Y and do not want to marry Z. But reading it was incredible - I tried to read whole libretto but after I stopped to roll I was so disgusted that I put that book away

The Clockwork Orange movie was so strange I stopped trying to understand it after about five minutes. Gangs of adolescants, nudity and penis-shaped ornaments.... way too bizarre for me!

Actually I'm not a big fan of Verdi's and I LOVE Mozart's Zauberflöte. I'm not sure what libretto you are referring to, but that of Die Zauberflöte is absolutely brilliant. Very original and thought-provoking, even though it was slammed down by the press at the time of the Ur-Aufführung. I even used it as a topic for an essay once.

Do you remember music from "Apocalypse now"? The scene when they fly in a helicopter over rice fields and have that huge loudspeakers and broadcast music over all area? It was overure from the Richard Wagner oper "Die Walkurie" called The Ride of the Valkyries (no need to mention to you what the Valkyries are). For me it was great (accoustic and emotional) experience.

Zbyszek

Ohh, yeah! Great scene and music. Thanks for the information!

I think mozart's operas are better then his symfonies
Especially "the barber in seville" (directly translated from swedish, not sure about the englisj name though )

Antonin Dworak - Violin Concerto A minor op. 51
Max Bruch - Violin concerto no1, g minor op. 26
Tchaikovsky Peter - Violin Concerto D major op. 35

It is not that I am crazy about violins, but some people can do really incedible things with violins, and if there is an orchestra ...
Try some symphonies of Sibelus, Medelssohn...

To Fljotsdale and Silver Cheetach: have you read "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess? I love Beethoven too , but not 9th Symphonie, rather others and his Piano Sonats, some of them are perfect. I would kill for Appasionata. (Btw did you know that in early 20-ties in Soviet Russia only Beethoven was allowed and only because of Appasionata - Lenin liked it too, it is very revolutionary )

Zbyszek

Hey Droog, yes, I have read it! Fabulous book. Burgess was a great writer.

I like some classical music - however, not as much as you seem to! I like Requiems very much, my favourite is Verdi's Reqium, but I also like Faure's, and Mozart's Requiem.

I don't have the Appassionata. In fact, do I know it? (I must get hold of it and listen..)

There is a fabulous Stabat Mater Dolorosa by Schubert - one of the best pieces of classical music I ever heard.

The Carmina Burana - I adore it!!! Love love love love....
